Please would you pray for a good friend of ours and local homeschooling dad. A malignant tumor was found on his neck this week and he is having surgery early Tuesday morning. He had NH Lymphoma in his 20's and our prayer is that this tumor is just a tumor and not a lymphoma. The tumor is in a very delicate area with a lot of nerves - please pray that the surgeon is guided so that there is no nerve damage. Please pray too for his wife and 4 young children for peace. His wife is my very good friend and it is because of her that I started homeschooling.
Update - our friend has found that the cancer has spread to his nervous system. Today he is going to have a pet scan to see the extent. He has been told that if it is Stage 1 he can be treated - if past that his survival chances are slim. He is in his early 40's and the homeschooling dad of 4 young children  Please pray.
Another update - our friend has found that he can be treated but he faces some really tough months ahead. He starts radiation and chemotherapy and because of the location of the cancer he has to have a g-tube as he will not be able to eat. He will lose his sense of taste. He will also not be able to work for a while - so they have had to cancel their home sale (and will lose money already paid). Please pray for them. As an additional prayer - our friend was baptised into the Catholic Church, but his parents were non-practising and the family is orthodox Presbytarian - the family is a wonderful Christian family, but I believe that the graces of the Sacraments and the interecession of Our Blessed Mother and the Saints would be so beneficial here.

Just bumping this up - he is in surgery right now. We spoke to them yesterday and they were both peaceful - their pastor was visiting to pray with them. They should know today what kind of tumor. They are also in the middle of a house sale - and everything will depend on whether it is lymphoma or not. Please keep praying.

I just heard from my friend. Surgery went well - they managed to get the tumor out and he is on strong painkillers but doing well. Friday is the earliest they will know about what kind of tumor it is.
thanks for your prayers - please keep praying that it is not something which is going to need radiation/chemo.

They have found out that it is salivary gland cancer - they are very happy as it is better than lymphoma. He sees the oncologist this week to see if he needs radiation or not. Please keep them in your prayers - they are also in the middle of a house sale/purchase and need wisdom about how to proceed.
