Ruth,
You are probably in more pain now than you will be tomorrow!  It will be alright. Try not to torture yourself. I know it is hard though. I have a fear of docs too! Maybe try distracting yourself with something you enjoy!

Thank you so much for your prayers. I got through the appointment with a lot of peace. Unfortunately, it's going to be very expensive. My biggest fear and the reason why I put it off for so long was the thought of all the work to be done and the cost. I have a very high pain tolerance, which is why I held off for over a year, but the abcess is too large to ignore.
I do have to have my tooth pulled, which is what I thought would have to be done. My roots were damaged from the braces I had when I was younger, and a root canal is not an option. I will have a bone graph and a tooth implant. The insurance will not cover anything except the extraction. The total cost will be $4600.00, payable in 3 visits.  I have no idea how we'll manage that.
We did get some good news today. Our 19dd just got a job today, so she should be able to save enough money to pay for her Fall semester classes in late July. 
I'm sure I'll be needing more prayers in the coming weeks as the work gets done. Thank you so much for your continue prayers.

Oh Ruth, I am so glad you didn't wait to go see the dentist. God will provide for you and your sweet family. Place your trust in Him and He will show you how to pay for it. I would double check with your insurance about the coverage and what your dentist may be able to write off... Congrats to your dd's job!

I've had dentists give me a 5-10% discount for cash. It might not hurt to ask. I will keep you in my prayers. Tooth problems are so stressful.
