We are heading down to San Antonio on wednesday ( 3 hour drive down) to meet with the Fetal MAternal Medicine Specialist and then the Pedi. Cardiologist. I am still hopeful that little Matthew's heart is strong enough to remain within for several more weeks and that no Hydrops have started (blood back up the wrong direction due to poor valve) We are still praying for that Miracle. We are 22 weeks this week and from all that I have read, I would really really pray to make it to at least 32 weeks. Matthew continues to leap in Adoration.. its so funny... we were there this morning and he was all over the place ... making this nervous mommy smile
I probably won't post an update until Thursday as we will be traveling back and going straight into bb practice with our son in the evening. Please keep our children and Jess ( also 5 months pg and with 5 kids) in prayer on Wednesday that their day goes smoothly with us away. Thank you for your unending prayers.

Oh Emily, I'm so excited for you! But, I know those nerves too! You know I'm praying like crazy for little Matthew!

Keep in mind that maternal fetal specialists see *issues* all.day.long and I've witnessed a tendency to de-humanize in order to strip a situation down to its genetic code and medical facts. There is a message that is sometimes communicated (either by implication or overtly) that a) questions your family size/philosophy and b) diminishes the dignity of this child. Just keep repeating your mantra...

...Matthew is a child of God
...God loves this child and willed him into being
...this child is a part of our family and will be loved by his mommy and daddy and family no matter the outcome of these appointments

I know you know this! I know you do! But, after the umpteenth round of questions and when your emotions are hanging out on the line, you'll need a mantra and prayers. We've got you covered in the prayer department...you practice your mantra.

to you, Emily! I'm praying so hard for this miracle!
