Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Take heart! Each of our twins had a bit of a rough start with nursing. Little Boy had trouble getting a good latch from the start, and Little Girl ended up in the NICU at 4 days old, and was on bottles of my milk and formula every day for that week. They both lost weight and I was very worried over it all. This is hard to go through. Let the emotions come as they do, and let others help you and take care of you. I know this can be hard! But it is what will help you through, ask for help, even small things, so you can recover, and care well for your precious baby.

The good news, hopefully encouraging to you, is that they are both nursing beautifully now, and gaining weight well. Perseverence does pay off. I had been worried that dd would not return to nursing, or regain the muscle stregth it took to nurse compared to bottle feeding, but eventually she did! Praise God!

But, also if you just can't keep going, with how hard it can be to work soooo hard at nursing, don't beat yourself up over it. If you have to do formula for a break in between, or for some bottle feedings until he has the strength and coordination to nurse well enough or all together, take it easy on yourself. Just knowing that was an option if I had to(I supplemented once or twice a day, after a nursing session, for 3 or 4 weeks, and now they are totally on breast milk), and being at peace with whatever happened, made my emotional state so much more peaceful!

Take Care, God Bless, and prayers for you, Brayden, and your whole family!!!!

Brayden is gaining! He was 2 ounces over his birthweight last Friday. It's good to be headed in the right direction. Thanks for the prayers.
