Dear Jen - we are praying for Chris and tomorrow will be offering up hourly prayers. Praying too for safe travel for you and for all the family to be ok without you.
I believe that Saint Peregrine is the patron saint of cancer patients:
Saint Peregrine, whom Holy Mother Church has declared patron of those suffering from running sores and cancer, I confidently turn to you for aid in my present need - (Chris)
Lest I lose confidence, I beg your kind intercession. Plead with Mary, the Mother of Sorrows, whom you loved so tenderly and in union with whom you have suffered the pains of cancer, that she may help me with her all-powerful prayers and consolation.
Obtain for me the strength to accept my trials from the loving hand of God with patience and resignation. May suffering lead me to a better life and enable me to atone for my own sins and the sins of the world.
Saint Peregrine, help me to imitate you in bearing whatever cross God may permit to come to me, uniting myself with Jesus Crucified and the Mother of Sorrows. I offer my sufferings to God with all the love of my heart for His glory and the salvation of souls, especially my own. Amen

I'm bumping and asking for prayers. Surgery begins at 5:30 am central time tomorrow. It is expected to be at least a 7 hour surgery. I'm leaving to be with Chris this afternoon.
Chris will be in ICU for at least one night after his surgery. It is extremely unsettling after a surgery of this magnitude. The body slowly wakes up after a long induced anesthesia, and the brain also slowly kicks in, and Chris goes into checklist mode to see what works, and what doesn't. I know I don't have to tell you all what a tremendous temptation it is for Chris to flee the protective shelter of peace and run headfirst into fear and worry. Keep him covered in prayer tomorrow and tonight, please! And, my mother as well. She suffers intensely for her son. Bring my mother to Our Lady who knows the heart piercing sorrow of watching a Son climb onto the Cross.
I'll update tomorrow night when I get back to my parent's house from the hospital. We won't be able to stay with him in ICU...and I'll likely have too much quiet time on my hands.
Jesus, I trust in you.
God's will be done.

Oh my goodness, these are the realities and worries you all face Jennifer, I'll be definately keeping Chris, your mother and yourself in prayer through all of this alongside with Lily's op. Chris is very blessed to have such a loving sister as yourself.
