I didn't realize that there was a post here about what was going on. I've not really had time to update my blog...most of my updates are on my facebook where I can keep it short.
Regina is still in the NICU. They had transfered her to a more local hospital, but now they want to send her back to Boston, because they can't figure out what's wrong here. Basically, they are telling us that she has a tiny cyst (or hole) in her brain. One dr. told us it was nothing to worry about, another dr. told us that they want to know what that part of the brain does. She still doesn't know how to eat. All her feedings are done through the feeding tube in her nose. They try to give her a bottle first, but she just doesn't know what to do with it. She also never seems to act hungry. They've asked me to stop trying to breastfeed because they think it's too stressful for her. They also said she has low muscle tone, and her blood work doesn't look right for a 2 week old--which could be due to the blood transfusion she had back in Boston.
Dh and I are exhausted from all of this--both physically and emotionally. We just want to bring her home. They are trying to send her to Boston this week, and we are going to ask that they fully explain why they want her there. If it's only for tests, then she shouldn't be in the hospital. We can drive her back and forth for tests. We'll do her feedings through the tube (and they're talking of giving her more "permanent" tube in her stomach for feedings because they don't think she's ever going to learn to eat by bottle or breast). I worry that she doesn't know that I'm her mama and not just another nurse. If they do send her to Boston, she might be over a month old before she can come home. And I won't be able to visit every day because it's an hour and a half just to get down there, then $20 for parking...
Please pray that this is all resolved very soon and that we can bring her home.

Emily,
I can imagine the stress and anxiety you are feeling right now, especially with an unknown diagnosis for the baby. I will remember you and your family as we pray the Divine Mercy novena this week.

Hugs for you and your sweet baby.
If she does go to Boston, please find the Social Worker and patient advocate; they should at least be able to help with the parking costs.

Emily,
I'm so sorry that you all have to carry such a burdensome cross. I'm sure this must be very difficult. Please be assured of my prayers at this time, and please be sure to update us as you can. May you feel the Lord's peace through this trial, and His comforting arms around you as He leads you through this.
Yours in Christ,
Tracy Q.

Emily - I'm so happy for the update as I've been praying ever since you first posted your story on your blog. I can't imagine the stress and desire of your mother's heart to have your tender little Regina in your arms. I will pray that the Blessed Mother will cradle her especially during these times when you cannot. I'm praying as well for healing and answers to some of the outstanding questions, and of course that you would be able to bring your precious little girl home soon!
Many, many to you, Emily!
