creepers and gowns all of the time? Day clothes during the day and pj's at night? Pretty dresses? Just curious.

Creepers and gowns the first 2 months or so, round the clock, exception being an outfit if we're going somewhere. Definitely switch to pjs at night around 3 months. Probably to "clothes" at that time, too. I had one who wouldn't take a nap unless she was in pj's until she was over 2.  We're kinda into routines around here, can you tell?

I'm a little embarrassed to admit that my baby just hit eight months and I think he's been in real clothes twice in the past 6 weeks. I just keep him in sleepers all the time.

oh a mix of all the above.. I love using the gowns on new babies boy or girl.. I have blue gowns for boys and pink gowns for girls when we're home.. if we're going out I like the sleep and play types..
And in winter I always put jammies on the babies.. they creep out of covers too easily not to.. and I like the bag sleepers.. the real ones.. carter's still makes them not those funky ones now without sleeves. for tiny babies in winter.
I like the all in one shorts outfits for summer.. I like the girls ones that have a little skirt attached.. too cute..
Even their nicer outfits when tiny tend to be more jammy like.. though I do have some things they can dress up in.. especially for trips to grandma's house and special events (Christmas though My first Christmas jammies can work quite well)
I like lots of onsies.. they're worn under gowns or lightweight sleep and plays when needed or at home with nothing else when it's warm.. or with a pair of soft pull on pants or overalls.. oh.. little guys in overalls are just so very sweet  but since pants ride up the legs when being carried around.. if we're going to be outside when it cold out come the footed outfits/jammies.. those can't ride up 
I like comfy babies.. if the clothes pull down or ride up or bunch up, I figure I wouldn't like it so they probably don't either.. so those type of clothes are either not used or only used for around the house or somewhere the baby can be down when wearing them.. especially older babies that are creeping and crawling.. since we have wood floors, onseies and pants work much better because you can leave their toes bare for traction.. jammies with feet give no traction on smooth floors.

I do sleepers almost all the time during cool months until they outgrow them. Then we switch to onesies with pants. One piece onesie outfits during warm months.
Of course, once they outgrow 9-month clothing it's impossible to find footed sleepers that aren't obvious pajamas. Never mind that it is still pretty cold here in March, and little pants ride up and expose their calves to the cold when you're carrying them.  I also have to put them in snow pants because I can't find those big fluffy zip-up one piece coat-like sleepers to wear outside in size 12-month.
I keep a few gowns as back-ups, but I've never really cared for them. It always seems like they ride up to their waist leaving their legs and feet exposed, especially again when it's cold. I often end up paring gowns with sweat pants.

Oh, I love gowns for the first month or so. They look like a little sack of potatoes! Then I do a combo of gowns, sleepers, and the occasional outfit.
Not much longer 'til I'm dressing my little guy in a gown!

I try to put my babies in "real" clothes for day and sleep/play suits for PJs as often and early as possible because it helps me feel organized. Same reason I try to get dressed nicely and dry my hair and put on a little makeup even if I plan to be home all day. But I don't do it if it would wake a sleeping baby and make us late for Mass (because the awoken baby would then need to nurse before getting in the car).

I love Baby Legs for this reason! My last two have worn them all winter! I give them often as shower gifts, and others seem to like them as well.

are "creepers" onesies in the summer and basicly the same thing with legs in the winter
if so - that's pretty much it.
a trip to mass or special visits get a dresser outfit
maybe.
it doesn't really matter much to me
esp as if they are under the age of 3, it won't be worn for long before it's needing changed anyways.

She wears whatever her big sisters choose. I hardly ever have any say in it. Who needs dolls when you have a baby?
(and this one spits up so much that they have ample opportunities to change her throughout every day )

Well, I'm maybe I'm just obsessed, but my newborns wear vintage-style cotton day gowns exclusively for the first four weeks, and bag-style night gowns. A onesie underneath if it's cool or air-conditioner is blowing...crocheted bootied make them look old-fashioned and dressed up in those weeks when everyone comes to sneak a peak, but the soft vintage cotton is still comfy.

I could have written Elizabeth's post. The only thing that I have to add is that I have learned the importance of pink for baby girls. My eldest has expressed shock that I have clothes in other colors for her baby sister.

Well, my first was dressed to the nines every day from birth...lol.
This last one? I'm all about comfort. I do dress her in day time clothes and have for several months now, but this is usually a comfy romper or something. I tend to put on her what I would want to wear. Now it's warming up and I really like a cotton dress with baby legs. :)

Books--I have been collecting them since my first was born almost 11 years ago. I can still find them in some of the nicer children's boutiques around here and I have a few that are actually vintage that I picked up at flea markets. They are pricey these days, but I usually buy one for each new baby and my mom usually contributes one or two more. I think my collection is up to about 12 now.
My favorite part of the nesting routine is that I always wash them, iron them, and hang them on satin hangers in the weeks before the baby comes, with little powder sachets hanging with them. Nothing like powdery fresh, vintage baby..... .
