Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

3 years!!!?? It could last that long? Geez! It's been 11 months for me and I can still express something.

Jenn it probably won't last 3 years, and just a thought - I know you have had a pregnancy and miscarriage since weaning. That can impact milk production/secretion.

I'm glad you said that, Mary. It occurred to me yesterday that I should return to this thread and mention that I had miscarriages in those three years, and so of course (duh, on my part) that would have an impact and my three years would not be typical.

It can be worth having a blood count taken to check for anemia. Anemia can contibute to repeated infection. Supplemental iron or extra vitamin C and E might help combat infections in that case.

Mary,
Have you ever heard of Alfalfa for the anemia?? All of us around here who've used the same midwife have used it very successfully during pregnancy to build up the blood volume; I had no more hemmorage after baby #4 since using the alfalfa. The midwife said to go ahead and use it post-partum when my iron came back low.

Of course if you are allergic to alfalfa forget it.

Karen, I could express milk for at least 3 years (maybe 4?) after weaning my dd. And that was without any pregnancies or miscarriages. I began to wonder if it was there for life!
