All things Irish here today 
Dinner will be the stew and potatoes from Faith and Family Magazine.
Breakfast is Lucky Charms, left by the Leprechaun that visited last night.
Lunch...I haven't gotten that far yet, probably PB&J or leftovers, unless I get creative.
Shamrock shakes for tea time or dessert.
We have a busy afternoon, ds has a doctor appt that involves a lot of waiting. Then the boys start lacrosse practice tonight.

We are celebrating St. Patrick's Day today as well. 
I am making corned beef and cabbage. I had to corn the beef myself...you cannot buy it locally! But we have a retired couple in our church from Cork and they told me how to corn the beef.
We will also have steamed potatoes and carrots and Irish Soda Bread.
Breakfast was cereal and lunch was pasta salad and baked chicken breasts.

LOL! I never thought about having Lucky charms!
MC we have the same menu today! We're doing the Stew and Champ from Faith & Family too! (My sister wrote that article and she's a fabulous Irish cook -- not the bland box mix version like me).
We're also going to do the Shamrock shakes too. I really, really, really wanted to do the Bailey's Cheesecake, but after cleaning my whole kitchen last week, I discovered that I'm missing the bottom to my springform pan.  I suspect it got used for a frisbee while I wasn't looking. So I'm not sure what our dessert is yet.
Maybe brownies with mint green frosting... from a box, of course.
Confessions from an Irish gal: We always had corned beef and cabbage growing up... but I think corned beef is too salty. BUT I love cabbage! I should have had dh pick some up just to have for the fun of it. And more confessions from an Irish lass: I hate carraway seeds, so most Irish soda bread is yucky to me!

Maryan, I saw the Lucky Charms idea on a blog somewhere, they may have used it for bait with their leprechaun trap, my kids just use Playmobil gold pieces. 
I have made corned beef in the past, my kiddos are on a stew kick so that won. Pretty cool that your sis wrote the article. 
We're not making soda bread because of the caraway seeds and raisins, maybe I'll pick some up somewhere for Jim and I.

That's hilarious!
And yeah... now that you mention it, raisins don't endear soda bread to me either!
I think I'm just the plain meat and potatoes version of Irish.

We are having ham and egg biscuits for breakfast, and I dyed the milk green this morning!
Lunch...not much thought for that one.
Dinner...Guinness Beef Stew from Catholic Cuisine, Smashed Potatoes, Broccoli Casserole.
Dessert...rainbow chip cookies with mini reese's pressed into them...pot o' gold cookies (been making these for St. Pat's since Quinn was one)...and mint chocolate chip ice cream.

Well, the reason corned beef is salty is because you soak it in brine for a week or more! But we love Reubens and hope to have some leftovers to make that tomorrow.
Is it legal to leave the caraway seed and raisins out of the soda bread? My ds does not care for raisins and I can do without the caraway seed? Can I please have the verdict on that one?

Breakfast was Lucky Charms here too. (Which was a big deal since we gave up all sugar cereals for Lent  )
Lunch was leftovers
Dinner: Green Eggs and Ham (I know its not Irish but hey hubby won't be home and the kids love it  )

we had the big corned beef dinner on saturday.. I have a meeting tonight.. so I have the easier option of making hash out of the leftovers 
and even have leftover irish soda bread to serve with it.
And if I didn't like raisins or caraway I'd just not put them in. I'm almost sure I've seen that. The thing is that the sweet of the raisins goes really well with the salty meat you might consider another dried fruit that you do like dried cranberries or currants or apples maybe?
I just go easy on any other salt.. like on the potatoes.. then eat the corned beef with the potatoes and the bread and it balances the salty taste nicely.

Breakfast - green oatmeal and green milk (My son asked me if they were green because they were old. LOL)
Lunch - sushi and salad
Dinner - corned beef, cabbage, potatoes and carrots

I married an Irishman, so he spent last night making Irish Soda bread (minus the seeds per my request) and I put the corned beef in the crock pot this AM with potatoes, onion, garlic and beer. I hope this turns out! I have never done this before! LOL
I have to say, I am REALLY not looking forward to doing the cabbage.  I just can't stand that smell!

Our corned beef turned out really well...so tender. I kept it covered and even added a little of my dh's home brew (it is a bitter)!
Fuzzy, I did not realize you were married to an Irishman! Our soda bread was great, but I also left out the caraway seeds and the raisins. My ds loved it. I am not sure how Irish it is without...
And on the cabbage, I cooked it in the oven as described here by Lara Sauer (Sara). It was truly yummy.

LOL Oh yes, Carole! My DH plays Irish songs from February 1-until today! LOL He just about had a heart attack when I told him I used his $8 beer to make our $3 meat!  At least it tasted good. I actually took the meat out and threw the cabbage in with the beer and all the fixins, and I liked it, still with a little bit of crispiness to it. Dh's soda bread was so yummy.
I think maybe Shepherd's pie next year?

I think that I may go for the Beef and Guiness Stew! I sounds so great and stew is what I usually make although I have been assured that it would be made with lamb or mutton if I made it in Ireland! We'll see what dh's beer is like next year ! It could be made with that instead of Guiness.
I do love Irish music ... been playing it on the cd player for the last several days. But no Irish bones in this household; we just love the music!
