Tonight the kids are requesting waffles, strawberry sauce, whipped cream and sausage. I don't know that we'll do a King's Cake.
What's cooking at your place today?

I didn't make them, but we had Paczki for breakfast! It is a Fat Tuesday tradition for his family, but we just learned that in Poland it was last Thursday and called Paczki Thursday. Oh well, they are still super yummy! Not so sweet as a regular doughnut!
I'm roasting a chicken for dinner, I think. Rice and peas on the side.
ETA: Dh is German, but he's from Michigan. The Polish lady baker said it was sad because no one except for transplanted midwesterners ordered them anymore.

Tonight it's pancakes w/ whip cream & sprinkles, bacon and fruit salad. For a special treat at "teatime" today, we'll eat up the rest of our donuts-- gotta get rid of those before tomorrow (eliminate temptation!).
I have a feeling I'm going to binge on blog-reading before my Lenten fast begins---so write up, ladies--I need some good reading .

Our grocery store carried these (and King Cakes). I bought some from dh, and we had champagne and paczki last night to celebrate.
Tonight is out to eat at our favorite place. Cutting back on that, too.

Pancakes and sausage. Boring, perhaps, but easy!

Pancakes for dinner w/ all the toppings to choose from.
I had a lightbulb moment last night, and realized by making German Pancakes for dinner we could make extra to have in a delicious soup tomorrow night (our meatless meal for Ash Wed). I think I've found a new simple tradition. Now...I have to call my mom to ask her to help. Her German pancakes are the best in the world.

Over the past several years, we have always had pancakes and sausage. In Wales this is known as Pancake Tuesday, but I believe that most people do not know the significance of this day. I was making dinner for our friends (along with Jenn's King Cake as dessert), but now our friends are taking us out for fish-n-chips. However, I am still bringing the King Cake as dessert. Time to share the wealth of our liturgical year and make plans for next year!

Pancakes, sausage and cinnamon roll King Cake. Nothing like carbing the boy up before swim team practice. LOL

Pancakes with the yummy trimmings, chocolate chips/whipped cream/strawberries. We did the King Cake from the grocery store last night. And as always I was accused of arranging who gets the baby in their piece

Tuesdays are so busy there's no way I can manage sauerbraten and potato pancakes for dinner tomorrow night and I don't have time to marinate the beef roast for sauerbraten tonight.
I think I'll do the roast and potato pancakes tonight. And be able to do something simple tomorrow. though I should be able to manage pancakes for breakfast

We were invited to a friends house for a party so I don't have to really cook - just bring a side dish. Something with lots of dairy I suspect...but haven't decided for sure.
