I figured that would have to be on the list....
We do not have wine at our Costcos due to Colorado's liquor laws.

You know, I'm laughing and nodding my head in agreement, Claire! We don't buy a lot of carbs or grains/gluten....but the Mickey Nuggets stayed.

My folks are in the same boat and they're just a couple hours up the road. Their state legislature is currently looking at a bill to allow wine and beer to be sold in stores other than liquor stores.
OH.MY.STARS does Costco have a great wine selection!!! Except that I can't find the black box wine that Lindsay recommended a few months ago. Maybe it's just not at our Costco?

Maybe not. Our Costco has a separate liquor store attached in order to abide by the laws. Its pretty easy to see what they have.
And Nancy, I LOVE the Wensleydale cheese with cranberries! We used to get a lot of cheese from Costco until I had to go dairy free for the babe , but we still get the Kerrygold brand Dubliner for a staple cheddar.
I get the Jones natural sausage patties for my breakfast. They come preformed/cooked in a big resealable bag. I eat sausage every day (since I had to give up egg as well as dairy ), and I blew through what came with our half a pig! Its a good price, convenient, and less preservatives than other varieties.
We also buy our printer ink there!
Nutella
organic corn chips
organic olive oil
bulk spices like cinnamon, cinnamon sticks, cloves
other baking supplies like baking powder and vanilla
They used to have good organic peanut butter, but they haven't had it lately
I also periodically get a big bag of white terry towels from the automotive section to have for cleaning. Great for spills and an all purpose rag
Also love the chocolate covered pomegranates
cashew crunch
We are also members of BJs, and there are a few things that cross over (nutella, and the same wild blueberries comes to mind). BJs is more convenient for dh to run into, and they have some things Costco doesn't. I think their produce is better, and they have more organic options. Also, they just started carrying Applegate Farms deli meats, cheeses, and hotdogs We don't typically buy those things, but the price makes it nice to grab in lieu of fast food or take out, and the turkey has been a life saver when eliminating things from my diet.

Costco has become a weekly trip around here for basics like:
sandwich bread
tortillas
toritilla chips
eggs
salad
milk
shredded cheese
peanut butter
jelly
pooh cookies, graham crackers
beans
rice
pasta & sauce
fish sticks
dino chickens around here
humus dip
apple sauce
cranberries
apples
bananas
pears
And oh do we enjoy the monthly coupons. We always try new things with those It's also hard for the kids to leave a Costco trip without sharing a Churro .

I buy all my nuts at Costco:
walnuts, pecans, almonds.
They periodically have bulk macadamia nuts available (they seem to come and go), and you can't beat the price.
Have you tried the Ghiradelli Brownie Mix?
They are the best brownies I've ever had, either boxed or made from scratch.
I take them to potlucks, etc and always get asked for the recipe
A funny story with those- one day at my mother's house she offered dh and me a brownie. We were leery- she is known for brownies that are a bit on the dry side. But we each took one and just about fell over when we tasted them. They were the Ghiardelli. I've been hooked since.
We also like the Sweet Potato French Fries and the Frozen Ravioli
(which also comes and goes)
Kettle Corn Best not to go there if you are not strong
I love that there are only about 3 ingredients on the bag
Baby Bell cheese- my kids are addicted, also the big packs of Provolone Cheese
I like that I can get organic chicken breasts and ground meat (that is labelled as pasture fed) at Costco as well.
And I must tip my hat to the snack bar there. Ever try one of those ice cream bars dipped in chocolate and rolled in toasted almonds? One, they are delicious . Two, they are HUGE. Three, they cost about $1 at my Costco. Truly a treat.

Last summer we discovered the frozen yogurt in cups, either chocolate, vanilla, combo, or vanilla with strawberry topping. They are large enough for 2 or 3 people to share and are under $1.50. I had previously ignored their desserts, but once we tried them, we were hooked!

Oh, have to add the Stretch-lite Plastic Wrap
It has that sliding cutter on top, so the box just sits in your kitchen drawer and you NEVER HAVE TO PICK IT UP OR GET CUT BY ONE OF THOSE METAL EDGES AGAIN!!!!!
Heaven.
Ditto the frozen yogurt

I buy everything at Costco. LOL.
Costco in Canada does not seem to carry as many lovely items as Costco in the US does, just judging by this list, though.

Nice to see this thread again!
We just went on probably our last pre-birth Costco trip (babies expected sometime in the next three weeks), and I'm kicking myself for things I forgot to buy. I might be able to send my husband after the twins are born, but he royally hates it there, so probably not until I'm on my feet again.
Anyway, what I buy now is:
Flour
Milk
Eggs
Cinnamon, salt, peppercorns
Dried cherries and prunes
Lemon juice
Canned tomatoes
Pasta sauce
Olive oil
Basmati rice
Cheerios and quick oatmeal (they have huge bags)
Tetley tea
Hot dogs and buns
Bacon
Frozen fruit (mangoes, strawberries, blueberries)
Cheddar (900g blocks)
Frozen ravioli and meatballs
Frozen broccoli
Lettuce
Sliced mushrooms
Ground beef and pork
Whipping cream
Dishwasher soap and laundry detergent
Granola bars and larabars
Sliced bread and tortillas
I wish that Costco in Canada sold wine, but no. We don't buy diapers or wipes there anymore since we discovered a local, cheap delivery service.

We do the majority of our grocery shopping at Costco. Not only do we save money but it has simplified my life and menu.
FYI, if you pay for the Executive Membership which is $100 you get 2% back each January, so essentially our membership is free. If you do not meet the membership fee in your cash back they will refund your difference-can't lose.
They are many other perks as well.
We just had to purchase new hearing aids for our 2 oldest children. We bought the Kirkland brand which is put out by Siemans (very reliable hearing aid manufacturer) at a tremendous savings x 4 ears. The warranty is also longer/better then you get if purchasing through audiologist.
We are in the process of refinancing and Executive Menbers get a better deal-not bad.
Not to mention the price of gas is usually significantly lower.

One thing we always get (not the healthiest item ) are the frozen popcorn chicken by ?Perdue?, I think. Total convenience food for those trying days!
For anyone who hasn't ordered glasses from Costco, I'm adding to the plug. We do not have optical insurance, so we bring our prescriptions from the opthamologist to Costco. 23yods just ordered new specs last week. Total was $115. This included the coatings that they put on the glasses for glare, etc. For a very small amount, he could have also gotten sunglasses, but he is due for an exam in the summer, and decided to wait, since he normally wears contacts.
Other purchases include:
-butter
-nuts
-coffee (kirkland brand is really pretty good)
-laundry detergent
-Pam non-stick spray
-tomato sauce
-tomato paste
-canned vegetables
-pasta
-maple syrup (I guess we are fortunate our Costcos carry it!)
-large chocolate bars at Halloween time for neighbor's kiddies (and there always seems to be a good coupon in the Costco mailer that makes them even less expensive)
-Costco cakes (for those big occasions- but for the boys' birthdays, they only want cakes that I make)
-Costco muffins! The boys love them! But they are only for special occasions, too.
The hot roasted chickens (when I go shopping at Costco, I always try to go in the morning, as it can become quite crowded, and the boys love these chickens for lunch)
-Gasoline! It is way cheaper than the local stations! We have two Costcos, each about 2-3 miles from us, opposite directions, and only one has the gasoline.
-Photos (Their photo service is much less than anywhere else around us.)
We have also purchased a camera, couch, ipod, tv, and treadmill. As Amy noted, the executive membership gives you money back, and by using their American Express card, it extends the warranties by a year. It has worked great! Both the ipod and couch had problems, and even though we'd had them over a year (the ipod was almost two years, but not quite!,) they were replaced completely, no charge!
Costco is also a great place to work. One of the moms in my local group has two sons working there. They work very hard with college students and are completely accomodating to their schedules. The boys get very good health insurance plans, plus optical, dental, and retirement plans. Plus, their hours of operation mean the boys aren't out late. And!, they also (at least at the Costco near us where the boys work) host a big Christmas party for the employees!
In Christ,
Stacy in MI

We get this plus a rebate check from American Express. We only use our Costco-American Express card for costco purchases and restaurants, this keeps a nice account of our spending there and we love getting those two checks every year

Oh yes, this is a big part of our spending at Costco. Unless we are no where near a Costco all our gas gets bought there (American Express gives 3% back on gas!)

Well, I'm just happy that I can contribute to this thread now! When we lived in NY, there was no Costco!
Here's what I buy at Costco now that I can go to Costco :

anchovies
Izze fruit sodas (every so often)
I wish ours had Larabars!!!
dried cherries and blueberries, although not lately
dates
nuts
milk
Dubliner cheese
prosciutto
lamb when it's on sale
Kerry Gold butter if it's there!!! Last year it was cheap and I stocked up, then it disappeared.

frozen organic broccoli
organic salad greens
brussel sprouts
mushrooms
orange juice concentrate
garlic
paper plates
I also bought my shoes there, all our current dishtowels, and just replaced our broken DVD player with a new BluRay .
And whenever we go on a trip, I buy road food and juice boxes there.

The only thing that hasn't been mentioned that I love to get at Costco are their seasonal/holiday treats! Jen, that pepper jelly is AWESOME as is their Panettone. And I don't think anyone mentioned the dried mushrooms.
Love,

How fun to find this thread in my inbox after 3 years! Well - I was obviously convinced - because we shop at Costco for many of our groceries. I even have a Master List which follows the current layout of our Costco. We don't buy everything all the time - but having the master list, helps me when I am making my twice a month Costco list.
My current favorites are the Chobani yogurts and the Blueberry Juice. (and my new trash can from Costco!!!)

We need a new trash can...I would not have thought to look at Costco, but now I will!
We have three (!) Costcos near us - two near home and one near our dance studio. (They don't sell wine - Maryland law strikes again - but they all sell gasoline.) I am feeling very blessed!
We do the Executive Membership thing, too. Some years it pays for our membership, but when we've bought refrigerators and other large items, it pays for a lot more than that.
