Just curious, I am such a night owl.
I shouldn't be but I am. Nursing the baby and enjoying me time.
ETA:
That's funny I noticed I put 'me time' nursing. LOL maybe because it is 1 child with me rather than 5.

Planned??? or actual???
Well since I'm posting this at 12:56am.. I guess I can't avoid it..
It's past my bedtime
My plan is to be in bed between 10:30 and 11 so that I can be asleep close to 11. That works nicely for getting up about 7am.
But then the baby was so cranky with teething that I was being kept up until about 2 and soooo tired.. I slept in a few days.. and then the baby slept and I didn't.. wide awake.. tossing and turning and finally getting up after about an hour so that I could relax and stop being so aggitated..
I'm trying to go to sleep closer to ontime (well tonight I didn't try) but I have been.. it's just not working so well
I am a night owl by nature though.. and I definately enjoy the evening hours when the kids are all asleep

11 pm. Occasionally it's later and more rarely it's earlier.
I tried going to bed earlier and getting up earlier... but everyone got up with me. And that defeated the purpose!
So I do my stuff at night too.

My husband works the evening shift, so he's not home until 1 am or so. So for us to have any alone time together, I wait for him. I usually get to bed between 2:30 and 3. Unfortunately, my 2 yr. old still gets up at 7 or 7:30, so I'm lacking sleep lately. I tend to be a night owl, but that's tough when you still have to get up fairly early. Occasionally it catches up with me, and I'll doze off for 20 minutes or so, when my son naps.

My parents tell me that from the time I was a toddler, I would promptly tell them I was ready for bed at 8:30 every night.
I haven't changed much except that by necessity I will try and stay up occasionally to spend time with my husband. It is SO hard for me, though, to lay down and nurse the baby without falling asleep. So, rarely do I make it past 9:30.
I love my time in the morning, but since all my boys have been more active nursers in the wee hours, this is one of those seasons where I don't always get it. In the summer, I can pop out of bed at 5 or 5:30 (if the baby will let me), but in the winter, I pry myself out (if the baby with let me) around 6 or 6:30 and am quite happy to sleep until the sun comes up.

I try to be in bed by 11:00--this time used to give my husband and I some quiet time alone-but now, with every age group living at home, there are usually several kids still up at this time, or not home yet , we seldom get alone time unless we are the ones not home.

I try to get to bed by 10pm. That means that I need to be in bed reading by about 9. This doesn't always work, because if I work an evening shift, I don't even get home until 9:45. But I try. I get up at 6 to work out with the neighbor, so if I stay up to late, I'm hurtin' in the morning!

My goal (whic I rarely achieve) is to be in bed on the same day I woke up! Which is why I usually feel like this:

My new plan is in bed at 10, lights off at 10:30. I want to be up at 7 so I can exercise and shower before the great race begins.
Last night I saw the 1 AM hour on my bedside clock, but I was up at 7 and running on the elliptical, so I"m today.

11pm is probably the average -- except when we're up catching up on Lost.
I would be happy if I could just push it forward a little bit to 10:30 average. Then I would be gettin' closer to 8 hours . . . My baby JUST started sleeping through the night-- yay! -- so this goal seems doable now!

I usually strive for 10:30 but it is usually closer to 11. I get up at 6. I would like to get up earlier, but middle age has set in and I feel like a mac truck has hit me if I get up earlier. I used to think after I was done nursing my last that I would feel well rested enough to get up at 5 or so, but I went right from nursing to that 40+ thing.

Well, not yet tonight. And I'm not on the West Coast so the timestamp is accurate. I am a night owl but the baby has been the bigger night owl lately, for much of her life so far anyway. My husband works mostly at home so getting sleep as needed during the day is much easier for me than for many.
Before she was born, I think I was going to sleep in the 12 or 1 hours most nights.
When I was younger, I thought people who got up at 10 or 10:30 when they had no "reason" to do so were morning people! That is how deeply owlish I am. But as a mother of young kids I think the best realistic sleep schedule for me is 12:30 to 7:30 or so. I seem to need a bit more sleep in the winter, plus I would expect the baby to nurse once or twice overnight if she did regularly sleep the hours I'd prefer, so maybe 11:30 to 8:30 with a half-hour to hour up with the baby would be nice right now.

My dh works nights. We don't have anything in the mornings until at least 11am, usually. We don't have "set" wake up times.
I used to feel SO guilty about this. It used to seem to me like...like the idea was that morning people were seen as more virtuous than their opposites. Night owls- well, they are just undisciplined or....something.
I do everything you all do - but my best hours are after dinner. I am awake, alert, etc. In the morning, I can barely function. Probably how morning people feel at night.
I hear about some people getting up at 5am every day! Ack! That is NOT an early morning - just a really late night!

Great point! I think it's wise to see what time of day we function best and then work with that. I've noticed, for instance, that from 1-4 pm is my biggest slump. I have virtually no energy then. So I'm trying to make sure we aren't trying to "get things done" during this time.
My husband's family are all night owls. My dh can stay up till 2 or 3 am- no problem. Me, on the other hand- if we start a movie after 9pm, I probably won't make it past the first 15 minutes.
As for 5 am being a "really late night"- I think I might agree!!

Wow, I'm surprised at the number of night owls here! In my single days, I would go to bed between 10:30-midnight on workdays. Now as a married woman with two under the age of two, it is a rare night that I'm not in bed with the lights out by 10-10:30. Both of my sons are morning larks so if I'm not ready to be awake by 6 a.m. I am in deep trouble!
