I've got a prayer request that I've held kind of close. I can't blog about this because I don't want to alarm my parents (seems to be a familiar theme in my life the last few months). Something's not right with Sarah Anne's eyes. At first, we weren't sure if she could see. Now, we know she does. We held our breath waiting for her to smile. She wasn't smiling because she wasn't fixing on our faces. She looked beyond us or around us. It was really heartbreaking. The doctor was concerned that he could not see to the back of her eyeball. He wasn't alarmed; but he was concerned. His plan is to wait because even though she's ten weeks old, her corrected age is only four weeks. Then, we figured out that she can't really see us unless she's about 18 inches from our faces. We started holding her at arm's length and she started smiling  .Still, though, there are concerns. It might just be that she needs more time but it might be that there's more to the equation. Unlike some preemies, she's doing very little according to her actual age. Instead, everything is in line with her corrected age. This month will be a big one in determining what exactly is going on. Poor kid: we walk around the house holding her out and saying "Can you see me? Can you see me now?" So, please offer a prayer for Sarah Anne and for her doctors (and maybe her neurotic mother, too)?

We continue to pray here for precious Sarah Anne, Elizabeth. Sending prayers that the doctors will be enlightened with wisdom and that you will be granted a good measure of the peace that surpasses all understanding.

Dear Sicilian Virgin and Martyr, whom the Church recalls in Eucharistic Prayer I, you valiantly rejected great promises and resisted several threats in remaining faithful to your beloved Lord. For centuries Christians have invoked you particularly when suffering from eye trouble. So now we implore your assistance on behalf of Sarah Anne. We also ask you to teach us to imitate you and to avoid spiritual blindness of any kind. Amen.

Praying for Sarah Anne, her doctors, and your family. Things like this are hard; the only *answer* is just to wait and see, but that is a tough outlook to live out day to day.
