Thank you, everyone, for your prayers (and thank you so much, Paula!).
We commended Kim's soul to Our Lord yesterday at her funeral Mass. In spite of the circumstances, the Mass was everything I'd hoped it would be. The priest (new to the parish) was warm and welcoming, especially to non-Catholic attendees, and he stressed family unity in his homily, which we really and truly need at this difficult time. The music was beautiful. The parish bereavement team put on a lovely reception for us, which was a huge blessing.
I know we could never have made it this far without your prayers. You'll never know - because I have no words, even though I write for a living - just how much comfort you've given to me and mine. I have carried your intentions with me on this journey; please know I'm remembering all of you in my prayers.
On behalf of my entire family, please accept my deep, heartfelt thanks. You are what Christianity is all about...peacemakers, poor in spirit, meek and humble of heart, thirsting for justice, pure in heart...and you have prayed me through one of the most difficult times in my life. I'll never, every be able to repay this, but I'll pray for you and your intentions just as you've prayed for me and for my family.
