My sisters and mom belong to the Confraternity of Christian Mothers. There is a local group at their parish in Winchester, Virginia. A couple of years ago, my mom gave all of us -sisters and sisters in law - the devitional Mother Love. I love it! I will inquire more about it and report back.

A distinction - the national organization is an Archconfraternity of Christian Mothers. The individual groups affiliated with local parishes are Confraternities of Christian Mothers.

Description of an Archconfraternity
Father Angelus Shaughnessy (you may recognize Father as he used to be the Minister General the Franciscans of the Eternal Word and you probably saw him on EWTN numerous times) is now the Executive Director of the Archconfraternity of Christian Mothers. He used to maintain a website (www.fatherangelus.com), but it doesn't seem to work anymore. The address to contact the Archconfraternity is: 220 37th Street, Pittsburgh, PA.,15201
This is an HTML of a newsletter published by the Archconfraternity recently. There are phone numbers listed along with an email along the left side of the document if you are interested in contacting Father about the Archconfraternity.
Edited: I had to edit my own wording and description of Archconfraternity.

I like Divine Intimacy very much. It Is keyed to the old calendar, though, which makes it a little tricky to navigate.I probably just need to print a Traditional calendar and keep it in the book. |

I have used Divine Intimacy on and off for a few years now, but having recently picked it back up faithfully, I find it to be in sync for me right now.
We have been attending the TLM for a couple of years now, and just this week I have found how valuable the idea of "preparing for lent" is. Since this past Sunday was Septuagisima Sunday on the old calendar, the book corresponds to that, and it struck me of how much sense it makes to start preparing yourself for the season. I always felt before that Ash Wednesday came with sort of a jolt and a last minute rush to quickly become penitential and hurry and "pick a penance" .
Anyway, I have just discovered the writings of Fr. Thomas Dubay and read Fire Within in the late fall. I think that Divine Intimacy (being Carmelite) dovetails so nicely having just been introduced more deeply to St. Theresa of Avila and St. John of the Cross, and many of the ideas from that book are echoed in the meditations--also helping to implement and elaborate on the ideas Dubay discussed.
All that to say that I really liked Divine Intimacy before, but I am getting SO MUCH more out of it now. It, too, is divided by liturgical season, and even though the Lenten section started this week, it would be a good one to start for Lent, imo!

Last night at Adoration, I saw someone had donated two used copies of this to our Adoration Chapel. This gave me a chance to sit in quiet and soak it in.
I love the way it follows the liturgical season...beautifully so...and the meditations seem to be full and plentiful.
Lent would be a rich time to start it.

Interesting connection. I'm on a Father Dubay reading trail. He's speaking locally for a series of talks and he's wonderful. I was already planning to read a few but now I definitely have my lenten reading.

This website has Lenten meditations from Divine Intimacy. It's a post from last year, so the dates are off, but it can be easily adjusted for this year.
I recently ordered The Better Part: A Christ-Centered Resource for Personal Prayeroff ebay. I'm looking forward to having it before Lent.
I really enjoy In Conversation with God as well.

Thank you so much! I look at this book all the time, but never order it because of the price. I just ordered one today, thank you!
