Update #2
Unfortunately, I do not have good news to share. They found out Lydia is not in remission after this latest round of chemo. They were hoping she would be in remission so that they could go forward with the transplant.
Her cancer continued to grow. The doctors do not feel that further chemo will have an impact. The family is now planning for palliative care. They are told they believe Lydia has a few weeks to a month to live.
Please keep this wonderful family in your prayers for the very tough times facing them.

Thanks everyone. Today will be tough for them. They are picking out Lydia's casket and burial spot today.
They will be heading out to Florida on Wednesday.

So very heartbreaking. I'm without words and my heart aches terribly for this family. I will pray for a peaceful and holy death for sweet Lydia and for God's ocean of Mercy to rain down on this family.
Thank you for updating us and allowing us to stand at the Foot of the Cross with this family.

Below is an update I received today from my friend Monica, Lydia's mother. Please keep this wonderful family in your prayers.
Well, I think we are hitting a rough patch. Lydia came down Sunday with what seemed like a bit of a cold. The nurse came yesterday morning and collected her blood. The blood results were hemoglobin 10.1; platelets 81,000; white blood cells 151 (YOW!-normal is around 4.5-14.5); and blasts 77%. In fact, there were so many blasts, there isn't really anything else in the blood but platelets, red blood cells, white blood cells, and the bad, nasty blasts. I immediately called Dr. Friebert, and said this appeared to be a "blast crisis" and she confirmed that it was. Time is getting shorter and shorter....you can't live long with blood results like there. They told us the disease was fast moving and aggressive and they were right. What seemed like a cold, may be Lydia's tissues actually being squeezed of fluid by the bad cells. Amazingly, Lydia had a fantastic night last night, and put own a fashion show for both sets of grandparents and for us. This morning, she really looks miserable. Please pray that she will not suffer and that she will be peaceful. Please pray for all of us that we can handle what is coming and what now seems rather inevitable. I know I can't really prepare myself for what is coming because it is just TOO BIG, but I am trying to let God hold me in the palm of his hands, and when he calls her home
