Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Just for fun, what are you asking for this Christmas? I usually ask for things related to schooling or kids' sewing, but was specifically asked to make a list for myself this year. I put these on the list:
Knitting books by Elizabeth Zimmerman
A pretty rosary I saw online
A new flannel nightgown.

What's on your list?

There's a CD that I LOVE. It's this one:
How Great Thou Art Gospel Favorites

I borrowed it from the library once, and absolutely FELL in LOVE with the Vince Gill rendition of *Give Me Jesus.* It is my favorite song in the world now (besides How Great Thou Art itself (which is done on this CD by Carrie Underwood, my favorite)).

It's really the only thing I'd love to have for Christmas, and if I don't get it, I'll buy it for myself for Christmas.

Other than that, I told my family gift cards to Tim Hortons and The Christmas Tree Shop (new here to Buffalo, and my favorite store in the world) would be GREAT! I LOVE to be able to go shopping or to Tim Horton's guilt free!

I guess I'm a very simple woman.

um, a new Gov., one who doesn't have felonies attached to his name??

seriously?... every Christmas time a big disaster befalls us, and so I can't even think about what I really might want.
Our "gift" this year is repairing our 13 y/o 200,000 mi car, and depending on the cost there (just took it in today ), we MUST repair our cracked foundation and leaking basement. Zero degree weather and standing icewater widening the huge cracks in the concrete is not a pretty sight, nor is the black mold creeping up the wall.

just a little vent.
I am praying to be joyous and present to the kids, so my wish is really for a peaceful spirit....sigh

sorry for the vent.

Okay - I'll play, and even show my "materialistic side" - becuz I thought from the OP that that was what she meant.

I want a new game for my Nintendo DS the my DH got me for my Birthday last Thursday. The Brain Age game it came with is okay - but gets a little boring....

I would love a new pretty teapot. My only teapot is Christmas themed, but I use it all year.

Socks. The cushy, fuzzy kind, that you can really only wear inside. Cushy socks just make everything else 'okay.'

Games. Any games - board games, dice games, card games. I love games.

I know, I'm sorry I crashed the fun.
cushy socks are THE BEST!!
my materialistic side wants MONEY, and lots of it, enough to cover the 10,000 basement repairs, 2,000 to either fix our clunker (valued today at 98.00 on Edmunds ) or towards a new one, and money enough left over to get myself a haircut!
there, that felt good!!
I AM grateful that we've got electricity, the storms we've had wiped out a two block segment one block over from us- my neighbor said being without power for over 3 days made her thankful for the little things again....

A good nights sleep would be nice, but I know I'd just get tired again!    Hmmmm, slippers that don't make my feet stink - a tea kettle (not pot - kettle) Yes Laura, I agree, fuzzy socks are nice! I got some last year from a friend that make my feet feel royal!

HMM, how 'bout a clean house for a change? I mean, really... we've been working on finishing the unfinished part of the basement, PTL but I'm just so tired of all the clutter everywhere.

A digital picture frame ( I think I might be getting one-- hooray!) to have a slideshow of all our pictures that I never get a chance to scrapbook. I'm a scrapbooking failure...

I can't really think of much b/c we are very blessed this year. We've had lean years in the past and we are just starting to really get some traction financially. Hooray for Dave Ramsey!

Love,
JoAnna

That's what I want. My girls and I are drinking so much tea these days, I would love a pretty teapot instead of using the kettle.

Candlesticks have been on my list for years. Maybe this year is the year!

Mostly, I want a few elves to come clean, really clean, my house! Now that would be a gift!

Well books of course, really is there anything else worth asking for? I ordered a book for myself as dh is never sure what I want, he has requested that in future I give him a list. Which I fully intend on doing. Yesterday as we were driving into town I picked my book up from the mailbox and as dh was driving I peeked This morning whilst dh was asleep I went to have a little peek. He has moved it!!! Doesn't he trust me or something? When I complained to ds11 I just received A LOOK

Oh and I would like an extra large pie dish for apple pies and pavlovas. Most kitchen items are not made for the larger family.

Yay, materialistic and non-materialistic, I'll play!!

  • a Garmin nuvi 770 for use next year when we move to Italy

  • all kinds of organizing stuff for pantries, cabinets, etc. I'm slowly accumulating these and getting our shelves/cabinets in better order... but it's SOOO slow..

  • someone to take over and supervise the kids when they're supposed to be doing chores and they're NOT

  • a reliable labeler (try saying that 10 times)

  • for the kitchen to be miraculously clean all day, everyday, even if it's just for a month

  • a new laptop that doesn't suddenly die when the cord is moved

  • that the baby be born SOON, but only when the temps are above freezing

Ok, I know this is a little pathetic but all I really want for Christmas is a front loading, energy efficient washer and dryer.

When I told my husband he said he absolutely refuses to give me a washer and dryer for Christmas. He is so kind, he really wants to give me something nice for me. But what I really enjoy the most is time with my DH and kids and having a better washer and dryer would allow me to do that (currently, I have to stand in front of the washer to help it change cycles
)

I finally told him to surprise me. He said we should purchase the washer and dryer with our income tax refund but I can't count it as a Christmas or birthday gift. I promised.

Besides a new, better personality and a personalised soul-cleaning session, I'd like some more storage baskets, a spring green woolen cardigan, stripey socks, a wooden salad bowl, beeswax candles, two wooden candlesticks, some red placemats for the table, a new soft leather cover Bible, some boots that are actually made for walking in, and a big box of peppermints.

I'm not actually getting anything, and that's very okay with me. There are some nice brown paper packages tied up with string to go under the tree and I love watching my little ones open their gifts so much that I can't want any for me.

Finished shelving for the new closets I have in the dining room and bathroom.
Paint for the dining room and living room.
A new kitchen (complete with oven/stove and new cabinets).
A remodeled bathroom.

Okay, now to be practical. Slippers. Some new jeans.
Scarves.

Hmm . . . slippers and boots, I guess. Neither of which I'm getting. Our dads always give us money so some years we have something picked out we're going to buy for ourselves after Christmas. My side of the family exchanged names this year and by process of elimination I have figured out that my sister has me. So between her and my MIL I think my only gifts this year will be lovely kitchen items. Fine with me!
