Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Well, I have to be honest and say that our use of McDonald's meals for convenience went up when they started accepting credit cards.

Funny too that as much as I use my credit card I don't think I've ever used it in a drive-thru.

We have an Amazon Visa card with no annual fees attached. I think we got $30 just for opening the account. We get $3 for every $100 spent on Amazon and $1 for every $100 spent elsewhere. I think sometimes there are extra bonuses. Like during the holidays maybe restaurants are $2 for every $100. That's not the sort of thing that entices us to eat at restaurants so we don't spend more that way. We do a lot of shopping on Amazon--we should have signed up for this card a long time ago! And then all our other regular purchases and bills go on the card so it is a nice little surprise when that gift certificate comes in the mail.

I know other cards are more generous but this was the first rewards card I'd seen with no fee that didn't seem like it would encourage spending other than what we were already doing.

I think our Mastercard has no fee and offers one point for every $1 spent in general but something like 3 points for every $1 spent on things like groceries and gas. As someone else pointed out, what you can get with points varies, but sometimes they go "on sale" so you can get more for your points. I think we could also switch to a "cash back" program, but since we often use the stores available, it makes sense to stay with the point program.
