Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Sarah,

I wanted to quickly add that I must have seemed a little "odd" to suggest you give your 7 year old daughter an American Girl Doll catalog as a "gift". I was up early on vacation and for some reason took the topic to be "activities" for a 7 year old girl! When I got home from the trip and realized that I had suggested old magazines and other non-Christmas type gifts, I had to laugh, but figured those ARE good ideas for occupying a little girl, but not necc. gift ideas!!! I figured you understood, but just to clarify we are not THAT frugal, although wouldn't that be nice if we were and they were happy with it etc.???

I wanted ideas in general, in addition to Christmas suggestions, and your post was very helpful! Thank you!

So we ended up going with a scrapbooking set (why have I not thought of that before?! Must be because I'm not a scrapper- but she will love this, I'm sure!). I am bookmarking this thread, because it is a treasure trove of ideas for birthdays and holidays to come.
