Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

A yearly favorite here is Santa's Favority Story

Santa deflects attention from himself by explaining the real meaning of Christmas.

Bumping for 2011!!

Advent begins just two weeks from this Sunday. I'm starting to plan some of our family readings. So far we have these planned:

The Greatest Christmas Stories of All Time
Ytreeide Advent Stories (includes Jotham's Journey, Bartholomew's Passage, Tabitha's Travels)
A Special Place for Santa

Please share the books you love!

I want to add this OP gem I found over Christmas:

Good King Wenceslas by Mary Reed Newland

This small book is illustrated with black and white woodcut prints. The first 2-3 pages give a brief but thorough account of the real Duke Wenceslas's life and piety. I didn't know his mother was also a saint, St. Ludmilla. Mrs. Newland also explains the origin of the hymn.

This book would be wonderful either for St. Stephen's feast day or St. Wenceslas's feast (Sept. 28). Very cheap used copies are available.

We love this book! I like the calligraphy writing, too.

An Angel Came to Nazareth

I had not seen this one before. Published in 2005. It has a very intriguing story line and beautiful illustrations. Worth checking out.

Danny and the Three Kings

Probably everyone has already read this one before...
We just read it today for the first time.

Oh, my- it has quickly gone on my list of favorites. It totally got me- I didn't catch on until almost the last page. My ds also got it about then and broke into a huge grin. Never saw it coming .

Then, paging back through, I caught on to even more. So cleverly done! Love it!
