How cool about the oranges! I ordered a half bushel of them for snacks and Christmas decorations. I like making designs with cloves and stacking the oranges with greenery.
Anyway, I had asked for the delivery to be this Thursday to make the decorating come a bit later in an attempt to keep the decorating low key for the first part of Advent. However, finding a significance for my Oranges is really neat. Next year, maybe we'll have St. Nick leave the oranges in stockings to put out in honor of Mary's Immaculate conception.
(Just chuckling to myself, though, that Dec. 7th is also Pearl Harbor Day, and we usually watch Tora, Tora, Tora that day, and the idea of sitting down to decorate oranges in honor of Mary while watching a movie about Pearl Harbor is a little odd-- but I can see it becoming one of those quirky family traditions ).
While showering in my dirty bathroom this morning, I had a dream of cleaning my entire house today in honor of making it a clean vessel. Not likely to happen as it did in the dream, but I resolved to clean at least the bathroom REALLY well. Not really a "fun" idea for a feast day, but it fits with the penitential nature of Advent.

Just had another thought. Today would also be a good day for stringing popcorn to make "snow" for the Christmas tree to represent Mary's purity.

That is a really lovely enclosed garden, Kira! I like how you created the tiers! That will be a neat tradition to build on - you could add St. Joseph for a neat St. Joseph altar in March and I'm thinking of all the possibilities for our Lady's Feasts during the year. Very beautiful! Thanks for sharing!

Thanks to all of you for the wonderful ideas. Inspired by this post, I made a Mary candle this year and posted pictures of it here.
We had a nice day with a "White Dinner" that included White Bean Chicken Chili served with cornbread, salad, and white wine. Peppermint Ice Cream for dessert.

I just wanted to say, " Thank you!", for all of the doable ideas! I took some of Ruths(or Lisa's??),and made an all white dinner and cake. My dc really enjoyed trying to make a Mary candle!! So much fun! My dd fell in love with Anne's(Australia Anne),and was sooo determined to make ours just as pretty!! Bless her heart,as she spent hours working on it! I really feel, that it is these types of activities, that make our faith come alive for our dc.
Thank you, to ALL you super Moms!!!
