Oh no, Susan! When I saw the topic I was in disbelief. We have been loving the Pius Parsch books and are so grateful for your dh's generosity and kindness in getting them into our hands. I'm just so sorry that your family is experiencing this. We are going to St. Joseph for him! May a wonderful job present itself soon!

Susan, although I wasn't able to post earlier, I've read your request and have been praying...employment concerns are close to our hearts.
Love,

I was just thinking of posting an update and to thank you for all your prayers.
We returned from our trip to New England having done a lot of brainstorming and talking and praying. I think getting laid off on vacation turned out to be a real blessing. We couldn't really panic because there was nothing to really DO. The day after we returned, just by coincidence, my dh had an appointment with a government agency regarding a long-outstanding case involving benefits for our handicapped son. It's a really, really long story but basically we've had a huge sum of money for years that was given to us in error and we've been trying to give it back to the government to no avail. Dh finally got to sit down with someone and, as it turns out, it was the government's fault and the statute of limitations was up so we got to keep the money. Crazy how things work out! It's enough that between it and a home business we have enough income to get us to the birth of this next baby. Dh is using the time to once again enter the academic job hunt craziness and get a few publications in. He was encouraged last spring to publish his dissertation so he is going to try to make progress on that as well. And--his Ph.D is finally official today!
We're sort of amazed at how things have turned out. We moved halfway across the country for a job that didn't pan out and now we're here living pretty much the same life we've been living our entire marriage instead of dh having a 9-5 job. The last couple weeks have been the most disciplined and productive we've had in months, if not years. We're both happier and things are going really well.
So there's my update. I know that not all job layoffs turn out this well and any of you who are hurting more from the economic woes will certainly have our prayers.
Susan

I never cease to be amazed at the miraculous ways God provides for His little ones. Many blessings to you all, Susan. I'll pray for many "yes" responses to your husband's publications and for the perfect academic job to present itself.

Congratulations! I'm so relieved for you. My youngest daughter and I tiptoed away from the All Saints party at church tonight to be quiet in the church, and when we were lighting a St. Joseph candle, I sent up another prayer for you . . . so there's the answer!
