I now need to carry two sets of double epi pen jrs for my sons.
Anyone have any carrying products that they would recommend? I was looking at some choices from FAAN. I also need to carry Benadryl, so I was thinking their Medicine pouch might be the way to go.
I've done the ziploc bag and it's just not a good option. The cardboard box gets so beat up, and if the box is out, then the Epipen gets loose.
So what works for you?

I wish I could help. I carry two in my purse as well as a spacer with the albuterol. So, even though we're through with diapers (  ), I carry a huge purse.
I'm thinking about making a bag to carry the stuff in. My boxes always are smushed.

I don't carry one.. but I had a thought.. what about the little manicure kit zippered cases? the ones that have the elastic bands to hold the various clippers and such.. would that perhaps suit?
another thought.. what about a small fanny pack type of bag.. then you can tuck it into your purse but also have it able to be carried seperately if you're going for a walk or such where you don't want to carry the rest of your purse.

Well, the Epipens in the boxes are 7x4x1 1/2 and since I have two, that's doubled. Out of the box there's a little more leeway, 6 1/2 x 2 1/4 x 1 for each.
I guess I'm looking for something that can be attached or packed easily, in and out, padded, and maybe slightly insulated for hot days.
And like KC, the added medical supplies makes the pouch even bigger. Thankfully no inhaler needed yet...although we may be leaning that direction.
KC, I did read this tip somewhere. First of all, the prescription label needs to be with the Epipen. Since the box gets destroyed so easily  I now ask for double labels, one on the box, and one on the pens.
Thanks for helping me brainstorm. I have used padded make up bags in the past, but most are a very tight squeeze.

I have 2 of the red medicine bags/pouches from FAAN with our last name written on in black sharpie - I carry benadryl, epipens (when we have them), tylenol etc. They are very good - but the epipen boxes do still get squished.

I carry Colin's meds in a Nintendo case I found on clearance. It was padded, and had loops on the inside, and had a sturdy outer.
Check the clearance shelves in the electronics section of Target. That's where I found mine ;)

I don't know if anyone would be such sticklers, but basically making sure that the prescription belongs to the person it's being used for. I think when the Pen is used, you have to have it to hand to the ER or medics.
I think it mostly applies to situations where you're not with your child, so that wont' always apply in homeschooling. But I do have older ds in an atrium where they keep his EpiPen on hand.
Is it a must? I don't know. I don't remember when or where I read it...just one of those "filed" things in my head, and don't always remember the periphery.

The manicure case is a great idea if I could find one big enough.
I'm so loathe to have fanny packs, but I know there are ready made EpiPen ones.

I'll have to do that. My older daughter needs new ones.

We use a navy blue heavy nylon fanny pack.
Our Benedryl and Alavert is in there too. But the Epi Pens are very accessible. The fanny pack works out great, because anyone in our family can carry it and not look silly. Since we need to have it with us at all times, it's been a good bag.

Jenn, I was in the PX the other day and saw that Vera Bradley has so much more than just purses, they had to have just gotten a new shipment in, or I'm blinder than a bat! I found a really cute lunch sack and when you said insulated and padded I immediately thought of it.

It is 7¼" x 9½" x 5" in loads of patterns, I'm really fond of the owls for Fall.

They do, KC! But I have to correct myself a little bit, it's a Navy base and they don't call it a PX do they? Some other term...I had to go look it up just now, it's an NEX. They might carry different things than a PX? But they do have an entire wall of Vera Bradley at really good prices.

Oh. The Navy exchange has better stuff. Shucks. I wish the PX would learn from the Navy exchange. They either have great stuff for the younger set or for the retirees but nothing for us in between.
Sorry to hijack your thread, Jenn. I was getting so hopeful with the whole Vera Bradley thing.

Now Rachel, you know you shouldn't tempt me! That is a great idea! I also see a smaller one. Mediterranean Blue is more my style.

I really like the idea of a hard case to carry the epipens. I used to carry them in the console in the car, thinking they were secure there, because the latch is hard to open for littles.
That all changed when ds (I think he was 10 at the time,) managed to poke his thumb with the epipen (it is spring-loaded,) and we had to call poison control and run his hand under warm water. Danger for a small extremity like that would be loss of blood flow. He knew better, but didn't realize how easily they "went off!" Now I keep them in a small locked box in the house, out of younger dss reach, and in an old tape case box (the hard plastic ones.) I have gone over and over the safety issue of the epipens, and they all seem to understand they could get a terrible shot!
I tell you, I felt like I was ready for the "Rotten Mother of the Day" award when we got to the pede's office that afternoon, and their doc looked at me, grinning, and asked how I managed to let my 10yo "play" with an epipen. He was joking with me (at least slightly,) but I felt horrible. Oh, and ds's thumb turned out ok.

What about a camara case? I lot of them hook to belts, come wth strapsa and are small enough to into a purse or diaper bag. Annie

We have 2 EpiPen brand carrying cases. They are like fanny packs, but smaller, OR they could be hooked to a belt loop. They each hold 2 epis and 2 Benedryl single doses. Ask your allergist, they come from the drug man. ;)
They work perfect, by 3 yo and 5 yo carry their own epis a lot of the time.
