Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Thank you, everybody... I can't tell you what a comfort and source of hope your prayers are to me. They released me from a fourth hospitalization at Johns Hopkins last Friday evening, after being admitted the Sunday before. This time they ran a bone marrow test to try to determine why I haven't been responding to any of the treatments. I know it was the many many prayers that have been going up that got me through that...

I had to have an emergency platelet transfusion last night at the local hospital, with another count of 6K. The Hopkins doctors have been absolutely wonderful, but they're puzzled and getting concerned. They want to start me on this semi-experimental drug that was only approved by the FDA a few weeks ago, but they're having trouble getting legal permission to dispense it. Until they do, or until I can find some other doctor in Maryland who has a license for it, we're possibly facing several platelet transfusions a week -- for an indeterminate number of weeks -- until somebody comes up with another option, or until the chemo finally kicks in. Nothing else is boosting the count, and the transfusions themselves are so far only lasting less than 48 hours.

To top it off, our boys are getting sick. My immune system is shot, and yet how am I supposed to avoid a crying 1yo and unhappy 3yo who badly miss their mommy?

Again, I'm so grateful for your prayers, and I'm trying to offer all this mess up in part for your own intentions. Please especially remember John and baby Thomas, and dh Joe, who is a rock among men but is also being worn steadily down. I've been praying hard that with my many disappearing acts from the family, I will not have to leave in the middle of the night while the kids are sleeping. Joe and I have been clinging to the Divine Mercy.

God bless you. Thank you.

Amy,
What a heavy, heavy cross you and your dear ones are carrying now. You are in my daily prayers and your intentions will be kept close to our family's heart during our Rosary each evening. I wish you weren't so far away in Maryland--I would love to show up with a home-cooked meal and some treats for your kiddos!! Much love to you.

Oh, Amy! We are continuing to pray for you!!! What cross to bear--for you and for your family.

May St. Joseph hold up your husband, and may Mary mother your children when you cannot. Praying also for the doctors, that they may solve this mystery and find a way to make life somewhat more normal for you.

Many hugs for you all!
