Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Bend it Like Beckham is my absolute fav. Big Fat Greek Wedding is another. I also adored Juno.

I am thinking about netflix but I have a hard time searching things there.

What happens is all day Sunday I think of things that I want to ask, but since the board is down, I can't. So I jot them down on my notepad. Which is why there tends to be a bunch of posts from me once the board opens back up

snicker!

Okay - here's a confession. Usually when someone asks my Favorite Movie, I will say, Pride & Prejudice - As it is one of my top faves of all time. (Or maybe Raiders of the Lost Ark - standard favorite movie of Archaeology Majors everywhere )

My actual favorite movie (goodness but this is embarrassing) - Gone in 60 Seconds, with Nicholas Cage.

terrible, I know. They happen to be playing it on the Encore movie channels a lot recently. After the kids go to bed, I have about 4 hours until DH gets home. I must have watched that movie 20 times over the past two months. I would never put it on if I owned the DVD, but whenever they play it on TV - and the kids are in bed - I watch it. Again.

I LOVE John Cusack. I mean it. My husband understand that it's possible I would leave him if John ever showed up on my doorstep (kidding..um..kind of).

Anywho...so I love the movies Better Off Dead and Say Anything.

Not for children. Definitely not. But oh, swoon.

I also love the Harry Potter movies. I'm almost more excited than my son when a new one comes out.

Also, Netflix has GREAT documentaries. I watched one recently called The Devil's Playground. It follows some Amish kids through their Rumspringa (not for your kids to watch). Very interesting/sad/disturbing.

Oh! WE LOVE PBS documentaries. Frontier House is like PBS' version of a reality show. It was really great. My son LOVED it. They took 3 families and set them in Little House on the Prairie times. It's great.

Oh! And you can get all the Little House on the Prairie shows on Netflix!

Hmmmm....

Well, like someone else said, it depends on the mood...

One of my favorites--really really really old b/w movie--The Enchanted Cottage. SIGHHHH (chick flick).

I love the Jane Austen movies (I could watch them all, BBC/A&E, whatever, lol).

Action movies:
I like the Band of Brothers series (on DVD). I don't watch that with DH or the dc (he's a vet, and they are too young)
John Wayne in just about any of his post-b/w movies
Scarlet and the Black (DVD-we own it!)

Romance:
A Room with a View

When I'm on a mid-80s kick,
Say Anything
Pretty in Pink
Sixteen Candles
Breakfast Club (I really want to watch that, don't have it on DVD-YET!)
Goonies

I do not do musicals (in general). I would just as soon be confined to my bed, and tortured with dental work minus painkillers as to sit and watch a musical. DH comes from a musical family. I do not. It makes for a very, um, interesting time sometimes.

The few I will watch are olllld. Fred Astaire/Bing Crosby era ones...

White Christmas, Holiday Inn, etc.

That's about it.

Rachel

I can't narrow it down to one either.

My tastes run wild... but I think my favorites are all the "darker" historical fiction type like Schindler's List, Rob Roy, The Passion of the Christ ...(can you tell I'm a Melancholy person? ) Others: LOTR (all, but probably the first most of all), Princess Bride, Sound of Music, The Matrix, Speed, ummm...that movie with Sandra Bullock where she's a cop in a beauty contest? Anything with Will Smith in it.    Told you my tastes were all over, LOL.   I've kind of lost track of what I really love because I only ever watch TV with dh, and we watch what he wants (I'm usually interrupted to go nurse or something anyway, LOL)

I love Frontier House too.

*****

I forgot a whole genre - Presidential (we watched Air Force One last week) and/or military (Saving Private Ryan, Hunt for Red October). We all enjoyed "National Treasure" a few months ago too.

OK, I'll stop.

I think if I had a Netflix subscription my life would grind to a halt, LOL.
