Well, my husband estimated I had about 1/2 cup of romaine lettuce in the salad one of our homeschool group members brought tonight. I probably won't have any more leafy greens today.
Btw, today (13 days postpartum) I weighed in at 0.2 pounds lighter than the date of probable conception. Not sure if I'm done losing pregnancy weight. I gained 21-22 pounds so I can't imagine I could have lost much more than 3 or 4 pounds of fat while gaining the non-fat weight.

Theresa, that's awesome! I wish I could show that self restraint during pregnancy, but alas I use it as an excuse!
Well, yesterday I caught up on household chores (like haircuts and laundry) so I didn't actually make it out for a walk or jog, but this morning my weight was lower than it has been in two years! Not by much, but still lower.

My one goal for this month (continuing from last month since I failed miserably) is to eat less sugar. Again I'm aiming at only once a day.

Yesterday my husband estimated I had a 1/2 cup of the "field greens" salad our latest generous dinner-bringer brought. Some of it actually looked like sprouts of some kind, thus not leafy greens, but it was pretty close to my goal and kind of in the spirit of my goal anyway.

No leafy greens yesterday, but 1/2 cup of broccoli today.

Well, I had 1/3 of a cup of broccoli yesterday because we didn't have much left. It was frozen too and not fresh like previous servings. Will get more tonight.
ETA: Had my 1/2 cup of fresh cooked broccoli tonight.
This may be somewhat pitiful to bother noting here everytime I do it, since broccoli is a pretty basic thing to have with dinner and 1/2 cup is not all that much. But it's helping me remember and not procrastinate about getting those leafy greens.

How's everyone doing?
Theresa, your posts have been encuraging. I don't have to do a zillion situps to make healthy changes.
I haven't had the drive to make my goals this month. I will try harder now that my life is starting to settle down...and after looking at pictures of myself during our convalidation.
I usually hide from the camera, but you can't say your vows and run from cameras. The camera is my greatest enemy...greater than the scale.
Blessings to all of you. I will pray we succeed at completing one healthy change a day.

You are gorgeous Michaela! But I understand what you mean about the camera vs. the scale. I think in my mind's eye, I don't see the real me. Not that I am a size 2 in my head, but I don't see exactly how out of shape I have let myself get.
I have been exercising for an hour every day and sometimes even more than that. I have discovered that the principle of physics works! A body in motion tends to stay in motion. I had to stop exercising at night because it was keeping me awake, but now that I am exercising in the mornings, I am finding myself more active during the rest of the day. The scale hasn't changed much, but I have to hike up pants all day!

Catching up real quick, I met my goal on the 9th, 10th, 11th, and 12th, with broccoli, asparagus, and romaine lettuce.

Ducking and running....
Still not doing so hot on losing weight here. The weather has been awful so the exercise that I was doing so well with isn't going so well anymore. I'm hoping to get the sugar addiction under control soon. I am trying really, really hard. I've been able to stick to my once a day rule a few days. Yeah! Maybe the scale will budge soon.
Persistence, right?

Well, I'm finally able to give a positive report. I've been exercising 30 minutes a day for about 3 weeks now and have lost 4 pounds. woohoo!!
I still need to up the water and track my food intake, 'cause not much has changed on that end. What has changed for me though, is my energy level. Wow, I can't tell you how much that has improved. I still looooove my coffee, but don't feel like I have to have it in order to make it through the day anymore.
Thanks for all your updates, ladies. They keep me going.

Ok no weight loss happening here. However I did just go to for a gyn checkup(1st time in 3 years) and after talking she was a little concerned and had a thyroid blood work done and said I should get a pelvic u/s. WellI got in quickly for an appointment. U/S was totally fine but my thyroid numbers came back a little elevated. I was able to get in to see my regular dr.(well my kids-I'd never been in before). He also ordered bloodwork and saw my throid was elevated a little more than last week so I just picked up medicine to start treating what I guess is hypothryroidism.
So while weight loss isn't happening(yet!)-taking care of me is and that is good!

Tracy, wouldn't too much thyroid hormone be hyperthyroidism and too little be hypo-?
I had my 1/2 cup cooked broccoli yesterday. Hope to be back later to add some leafy greens for today. (ETA: Yep, another 1/2 cup of broccoli.] I'm also starting to eat carrots again even though I've never liked them that much.
I'm doing pretty well at maintaining the new eating habits I acquired during pregnancy and even improving upon those. (For one, I think I realized one of the reasons I'm fat is -- believe it or not -- I was previously in the habit of eating too much. Mistaking boredom or restlessness for hunger, overly large portion sizes, and often, foods and drinks that were not very filling, let alone very nutritious, for their calorie content.)
Since having the baby, I have allowed myself some caffeinated soda here and there, after having only two Cokes the entire pregnancy (and much, much less soda than I once would have been inclined), but I don't think Coke or any other kind of soda is becoming a habit. We don't keep it around the house, but I get it sometimes, not most of the time, when we get takeout. And this morning was my first cup of caffeinated coffee since I think last October, but I'm not going to make a habit out of that either.

I think I'm down from the too many sweet snacks and too frequent sodas to about what I consider acceptable.. maybe a bit more in the way of sodas but still.. not that many.. so way better than I had been.
I'm remembering now and again to work my abdominal muscles to build up some strength again.. my back had been sore from compensating I think. And that's getting better.. and I try and remember to just tighten up those muscles whenever I think about it.. and now and again think to do the high step marching in place type of thing.

Theresa,
It does sound like that is how it should be, but the thyroid is actually opposite-the higher your number the less your thyroid is producing. I'm learning as I go. I also learned that hypothyroidism can slow weight loss(good excuse huh?!) Thanks for asking. I tend to eat when bored too or stressed-that seems to be a big cause for me to go looking for sweets. Good for you getting back to the leafy greens.
Amy-congrats! Way to stick with it.
Jodie-that's good-every change helps.
Monique-yep-persistence is good. Every day is a new chance.
I'm off to drink some water-that's what I need to do more often.
