Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

I was pretty frantic yesterday when this forum was closed. My dh got very sick Saturday night, and we had to bring him to the local hospital lab on Sunday for some tests. We were served undercooked hamburger at McDonald's last week, and we are just praying that it isn't E.coli, but another (less contagious and serious) form of food poisoning. I didn't know that E.coli can be passed person-to-person, but apparently it can. Fortunately, the kids' hamburgers seemed okay; it was just the hamburgers that dh and I got.

Anyway, my dh is doing *a lot* better today, so we're hopeful. He has a doctor's appointment at 4 PM EST today and will hopefully learn the results of those tests. In the meantime, I have been running around disnfecting everything in sight. I feel like Monk. I have problems with anxiety anyway, and you can imagine that this is just sending all of that through the roof. We're trying to quarantine my dh as much as possible, but... in a house with 8 people???

Anyway, I would really appreciate it if you could keep us in your prayers today. It just seems to be one thing after another lately. First my dd's headaches, daily for nearly 4 months, I've been sick with wheezing and bronchitis for most of this month, and now this.

Dear Angela,

At the beginning of July, we went through something similar - my dh ended up sick for quite an extended period of time - we think it was salmonella.

I will pray!

Definitely praying, Angela. When my daughter came home to us from China with giardia and very kindly gave it to me, I thought I would go out of my mind!    Our whole house smelled like bleach for weeks. And all my bath towels are looking quite different than they used to.

I'll be praying for you all!

My stars, Angela!!! Your little family is up on the Cross!

It seems like so much, but I know that Our Lord and Our Lady are walking right beside you all. Rest in that. Try to have peace in that. Know that all of us here WILL pray you right through this!

I continue to pray for Katydid, and added you to my prayers when you mentioned you had bronchitis. I'm praying very hard that your dh recovers from this episode quickly and with no lasting effects. Honestly, I do ok until my dh is sick - and then I start to fall apart! I rely so much on his strong shoulders to hold me up!

Praying for your entire family!

Update:

The good news is: Andy is feeling better. But his doctor's appointment was a little frustrating. The doctor he saw today didn't seem too concerned about his symptoms, although the doctor on call Saturday night was concerned enough to order tests for him, especially since his was the second unusual report that day. (I don't want to embarass my dh, but his symptoms were a little frightening. ) His test results haven't come back yet. No one knows when they should be back, and we have no idea how we're supposed to treat this. Should he stay away from the kids or not?

It does not seem like a serious E.coli case, but we have had bad experiences with this health care system in our rural county making mistakes before. Since I still have no idea if it's contagious or not, I guess I'll keep disinfecting stuff until the test results come back.

Update 2 --

THANK YOU for your prayers! All the preliminary tests are negative. By tomorrow (Thursday) they should all be definitive. My dh is feeling MUCH better. I have no idea what happened to him over the weekend, he had all the symptoms of bacterial infection as opposed to viral, but it looks as if everything is okay. Thank the Lord!!
