Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

What a merciful God to grant a sacrifice she can bear.   My Grandma died a few years ago and one of my children's godmothers remarked that she thought all the grandkids had a much harder time than the kids at her mother's death. Grandparents are so precious. We'll keep her in our prayers for a holy death.

Jenn,

We'll be praying our rosary in a little while.

She's in our prayers.

Can we have extra prayers please? Instead of a few months or a few weeks, they are now saying that it could be just a matter of days for my grandmother. The tumor is growing rapidly, to the point that the nurse can now feel it, and they also believe the liver is now affected.

Grandma is not getting out of bed, but she's lucid. She's smiling and is at peace. She keeps saying: "God has been so good to her, she's been blessed her whole life long"

Our pastor, Father Ciliniski, gave her the Anointing of the Sick and she has recognized everyone who has seen her. She's saying her rosary over and over again. She doesn't want the extra pain medications, as she says she's not in pain.

My mother and sister said that she looks beautiful, that even her wrinkles are gone. I will go tonight to see her again. I know she's a special soul and God will be welcoming her in His arms, but it's hard to say goodbye.

I'll be praying to St. Joseph.

Prayer for a happy death.

O Blessed Joseph, you gave your last breath in the loving embrace of Jesus and Mary. When the seal of death shall close my life, come with Jesus and Mary to aid me. Obtain for me this solace for that hour - to die with their holy arms around me. Jesus, Mary and Joseph, I commend my soul, living and dying, into your sacred arms. Amen.

Thank you for your prayers. May Anthony Corbin peacefully passed away this morning in her home surrounded by her family. Her death was as beautiful and inspiring as her life. She shall be sorely missed, but I'm happy to think we have a wonderful advocate in heaven.

Jenn,

We're praying here, too. Grandmothers are such a wonderful gift; I am very comforted by the thought that mine are praying for me from Heaven. I hope all of our prayers are a comfort to you and your family.

I wrote a little essay on my Grandmother when we found out she was dying of stomach cancer. It was published in the West Texas Catholic (Rita Diller from the CCM list is the editor...I think she has a few other contributors from this list). The Dec. 4 edition is online. This is a very large .pdf file, which takes a long time to open, but the article is on page 6, "My Grandmother's Legacy."
