Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

My 9yo dds said, "That's not very modest, is it?" Even the men were better dressed! I just don't get it.

I heard on the radio that they made the outfits so skimpy in order to boost TV ratings

It's kept us from watching many of those matches.

I've been encouraging my girls to write letters, but so far no takers.

I loved that after Kellie and Misty won the gold medal they both said they wanted to have a baby.

Mine too . We promised they would get to go. They are hoping for tickets for the gymnastics.

We are hoping to maybe make it to London that summer and then possibly ferry and train to Rome for a couple of weeks...if God miraculously provides it. We had hoped to use this summer's Olympics to get visas to China and do some short term mission work, but it just didn't happen...maybe the next Olympics will work out better.

Between the Olympics and the Little League World Series in which our great city of Lake Charles, LA is playing     (they lost to Hawaii today ) , we are watching way more television than normal.

We're going to be when it's all over. Even tonight the 6 yr old wrapped herself in her green blanket and snuggled alongside of me saying, "Time for the games."

What does one do after this much rooting and cheering?

I was thinking last night that it was time to get onto Netflix and restock my que. The kids are so used to watching tv in the evenings, I will need a few movies to slowly wean them off again.

Am I the only one hoping to go to bed at 7 tonight? I'm so tired now that it's all said and done, and my kids have to re-learn that their beds are upstairs, but overall, we had so much fun family time watching the games and the Lake Charles team in the World Series.

We also got exhausted watching way too late. I'm so glad it happened during the summer, not on school nights! We also skipped watching the volley ball for the same reasons.
