Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

ETA I wonder if they will want me to pay the fee when we prepare Madeline for FHC at home using our own materials. That'll be a question to ask at registration. I was told they want me to register her for homestudy PSR so they can keep track of sacramental records. I wonder how it's all going to pan out...

This is the very same question I am answering for a family here who wants to homeschool, using the books from the parish. In the end, our registration fee doesn't cover the full price of the books, even for one child (and she has 3), so it makes the most sense financially to pay the $50 fee for 3 children and get over $150 worth of books, rather than to purchase all the books at full cost, even with the parish's discount... So at least at our parish it makes sense to just pay the registration fee.

Oh I wouldn't have any problem paying for the books if I was going to use them.   They may have other costs they incur that I'm not aware of, outside of the books, I mean. Questions for registration...

Let me know what you find out, Patty. It doesn't seem fair to charge you the full fee for registration if you aren't using the parish's materials. There might be some small costs not related to textbooks; in our parish we give each child a small gift such as a rosary and a bracelet for the girls and the armbows for the boys. The reception is usually hosted by the first grade parents although the parish pays for the cakes. We photocopy very simple programs that I create on my home computer. The kids make banners, but they provide their own materials. For what we provide outside the textbooks, it might be only $5 or so in expenses per child.

we pay around 50 per child or so IIRC. There is a price break for those who register early.

As a child of a catechist my child goes for 25$ plus a 40$ fee for each sacrament. So that is an additional 80$ for FHC/ First reconciliation PLUS the cost of the SUIT which is required!

The fee is waived for anyone in need and it says so on the form. they do ask that you pay toward your balance.

I have 3 kids and only will put them in for the yrs of the Sacraments.

My husband has taught the Old Testament to Sixth graders for the past 6 years. All of our kids attend PSR for free - which is a good thing because I wouldn't pay for it otherwise! Aside from my husband's class and the 8th grade class on church history, I don't think they cover more stuff or do a better job than I do at home.
