Tomorrow is Laura's C-Section! Please see my update on p. 2 of this thread!
God bless,
Tea
Hi Everyone,
I would like to request your prayers for a dear friend of mine as her pregnancy is nearing its end. My friend, Laura, is expecting twins (these are her and her dh's first dc) and she has been diagnosed with not one, but three very serious (two of them being also very rare) vein/placenta related complications. The first condition concerns her - she has a mass of varicose veins wrapped around her womb and cervix, which was the cause of heavy bleeding fro the 20th week of pregnancy through to the end of the 2nd trimester. She nearly hemorrhaged to death and needed multiple blood transfusions due to this. She is only the 8th reported case of this particular condition WORLDWIDE! While she has many cervical varicosities, at the end of the 2nd trimester, her Dr. was able to locate and suture off the veins leaking at that point in time, and as a result, she has not been bleeding since the end of the 2nd trimester. The second complication is that Laura also has placenta previa. Now last week, a third complication has been detected, this one concerning the twins. There are veins from one of the baby's (the little girl's) placentas blocking the way to the cervical opening in the womb. While the statistics vary in their estimates, the average rate of infant mortality due to this condition (called vasa previa) is around 75%. To add to all of this, it is extremely likely that Laura will need to have a hysterectomy at delivery because the probability of hemorrhage for herself as well as for the twins is so high. She is currently 32 WEEKS PREGNANT (YAY!!!!!!), something which was in very serious doubt when all of this began back at the 19-20 week mark! Would you please consider keeping Laura and her twins in your prayers for the remaining 2 weeks or so? I say 2 weeks, because she will need to have a scheduled C-Section at around 35 weeks in order to assure that labor does not begin spontaneously, which would be nearly 100% fatal for the baby girl due to hemorrhage. I will update everyone as I can. THANK YOU, THANK YOU ALL SO MUCH for your prayers and GOD BLESS!

I have been through some of those risks as well, and they were watching so closely to make sure it wasn't as bad as hers! I'll be praying for her and her babies!
