Kathryn,
I'm so thrilled for you. Be assured of prayers. You have given me hope, too.

Many, many congratulations, and prayers for a healthy pregnancy and a calm dad-to-be! Now we know why Rachel and Hannah got to cuddle Ines: they needed the practice!

Thank you everyone . I so appreciate all the prayers. I'm thoroughly sick which I'm taking as a good sign, and it at least gives me something to offer up . As Jane knows, my girls love babies and toddlers and they couldn't be more thrilled.

Here is a neat site that celebrates pregnancy after 40. She Laughed I haven't looked all through it yet, but thought I would pass it on.

I'm just now reading this thread...woo hoo, Kathryn! My heart leaped with joy reading this and tears rushed to my eyes!!!!! I'll be praying for you and look forward to updates. I'm sorry that you aren't feeling well and hope that you are offering it all up! It was one year ago that I couldn't get out of bed easily...those months were tough yet so blessed. I counted each day pregnant as the true gift that it was. I valued each day in a deeper way than I was able to when I was younger. Sheesh...I'm babbling I'm so happy for you! Pregnant at 41 was a joyful miracle for me. Pregnant at 45...what joy!
Love,

In one of the Michael O'Brian books, he referred to the main character, pregnant in her forties, as being "touched with green". I love this expression, and thought about it thru out my pregnancy at 44 ...so special to have that connection with youth and creation in your forties. Such great news, Kathryn, keep your toes up as much as you can!

Thank you Angie. Isn't it just miraculous . At least the sickness and tiredness means I know it's for real . And Kelly, I like the idea of being "touched with green", though sometimes it is a bit too literal . I'm being very spoiled, and spending lots of time with my feet up. We aren't homeschooling so much as bed-schooling .

Whoosh, am I behind on this forum ....
Kathryn, congratulations!!
You know, I had Kate when I was 42, and I do have to admit that I felt just about everything a little more than I did with my earlier pregnancies, but not horribly so. I hope your sickness passes soon, and that you leap into that fun second trimester, my favorite time! Big enough to look pregnant, and not big enough to be uncomfortable.

For you, Kathryn!
Prayer to St. Gerard for Safe Delivery
O great Saint Gerard, beloved servant
of Jesus Christ, perfect imitator of
your meek and humble Savior, and
devoted child of Mother of God,
enkindle within my heart one spark
of that heavenly fire of charity which
glowed in your heart and made you
an angel of love.
O glorious Saint Gerard, because
when falsely accused of crime, you
did bear, like your Divine Master,
without murmur or complaint, the
calumnies of wicked men, you have
been raised up by God as the patron
and protector of expectant mothers.
Preserve me from danger and from
the excessive pains accompanying
childbirth, and shield the child which
I now carry, that it may see the light
of day and receive the purifying and
life-giving waters of baptism through
Jesus Christ our Lord.
Amen.
