Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Dear Becky,
My advice is do not wean your baby. I have had 2 (out of 8) that also would have been classified as FTT.
They nursed well passed 3 years of age. The one child is now 8 and is has a texture problem with food. She is very small for her age and we deal with food "issues" .....ie vegetables, some meats, etc each day. I don't make a huge issue over it, but work with her as much as possible.

The second one is now 19 months old and lives.....nearly literally....on the breast. In fact, as I type now he is nursing. At times I get a bit aggravated and irritated (Literally). He chews food up and then promptly spits it out or won't let me get the food next to his face in the first place. He HATES the table, so if he gets Cherios and will eat them running around the house at all, we allow it.

I also had a child who had a problem with nursing and eating because of a "tight tongue", where the tongue is attached a bit too tight and it makes it difficult to eat. She was on the border line, so my rather conservative doctor did not cut it.

Don't let you doctor talk you into an eating disorder...yet. It is not worth a battle with a one year old when nursing is still an option.

Blessings,
Stephanie
