Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

I've been pretty happy and content. I feel extremely blessed with my 5 and lack for nothing. That said, I also know I can still conceive and would not be upset if I did, so I guess that possibility keeps me from feeling as though that door has closed.

My best friend told me that she thinks a woman always feels a certain "pang" because it is in us to nurture. It's just who we "are".

I just got home from the soccer field. One of the moms was pregnant at every practice and through the hurricanes. She arrived on the field today with a tee-tiny baby girl in her sling.

I admit to feeling a great big pang in my heart.

And that made me wonder if I might feel that way when the grandbabies come. Seriously! Will I look at my daughters and daughters-in-law and wish I was back in their shoes? Because I did love those days so much!

I miss being the young mom I once was.

Cay, you said this so well, and it is exactly how I feel. I know that I am past my childbearing years (and let's face it, I am not sure that physically I am up to it). And when I find out about a friend being pregnant, I am so excited for them, but I also have that great big pang in my heart because I do miss being an *older* mom.

Sometimes I wish I had the knowledge that I have now and could do it over again ... I so love working with toddlers and preschoolers.

I am "only" 37, so don;t really belong here, but I just got back from my final checkup and U/S to make sure I passed everything from my recent miscarriage.
It takes so much work for me to get pg, and I and the unborn baby are always high risk in many ways.

I think what is breaking my heart the most is that after 4 boys I have a little girl. A little girl who BEGS everyday to have a baby to take care of. My sons, great as they were with their baby siblings, never never asked so consistently or persistently.

Now Maria has taken to caring for a pretend imaginary baby, nursing her, tucking her into little corners and drawers with blankets, etc.

It is breaking my heart that another little one might not come for us, and that I have a little mommy who is feeling like she is "missing someone" too.
