Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Maybe your dad is commiserating with my dad in purgatory over how they both missed out on any chance of getting Father of the Millenniums award! I will certainly pray for your dad's soul and for your family.

As crappy as my dad was he was still my dad and his death was still a loss - maybe that's a little bit of how you are feeling Tracy?   I'm sorry for your loss.

THANK YOU FOR YOUR PRAYERS!!!!

Well, the situation with my dad's death got even more complicated. But prayers are powerful, and I’m SO THANKFUL to God!!!

My stepmother purposefully excluded my dad's first six children (one of which is me), 20 of his grandchildren, and 8 of his great grandchildren from the obituary. There were some very painful times the past week because of this, and so many other emotional difficulties for my siblings and I. But God is bigger than all of it, and we decided to go to the wake anyway. We all went together (except my sister who had her closure already and didn't want to open herself up to any more pain, which we understood). It was a HUGE blessing to my aunt, who was so livid with my stepmom, and almost didn't go to her own brother's wake and funeral! And my half brother and sister were also so glad we were there. There were some very good things that happened as a result of us swallowing our pain, and attending together anyway, and I'm thanking God that He went before us, and carried us all through! YOUR PRAYERS are POWERFUL I tell ya!!! Two of my brothers attended the funeral, and more healing was done there today too, and apologies made, etc., and my two brothers were asked this morning to be pall bearers.

Each of us now has the closure we need in our own ways. We mourn the reconciliation we hoped for with our dad that never came while here, but have hope in the reconciliation that we pray will take place in heaven. My sister in law who shared with me gave me some WONDERFUL peace when she told me my prayer had been answered! I was praying most of all that someone would be there who could share Jesus with him, because I knew I wouldn’t be able to, and give my dad the opportunity to give his life to Jesus before he died. She said she prayed for it too, and that she was able to share Jesus with him at the end. She can’t assure me he accepted it, as he was in and out of consciousness from medication, but the doctor told them he hears them, and God gave her the few minutes she prayed for and shared it with him, and we can only hope and pray he accepted it at the end, and gave his life to God. I wasn't told about any time with any priest, but that certainly could have happened, as he said he was *Catholic*, and so it is a possibility. But I know God's mercy is more than I can even comprehend, and my hope is that one day, our reconciliation with our dad will come in heaven.

Now each of us will have to mourn in our own way, and will have to come to terms with the pain we have in our hearts that will always be there, but that God will help to diminish and subside as we go through our lives. I know there were great steps toward healing done in many ways, and we’re ALL grateful for that, and that the best that was possible given the horrible situation happened!

God is good indeed! And I am SO THANKFUL for each of your prayers! I always say the prayer of my christian friends are SO powerful, and I can tell you that they carried me through in a big way, and brought some wonderful, wonderful answers to the prayers which you so graciously offered on our behalf. THANK YOU from the bottom to the tippy top of my heart.
With Love and MUCH Gratitude,
Tracy

That was simply incredible reading Tracy, I am so happy that such a tense situation melted away so beautifully. Remembering again your father's soul in prayer.

It is a story of hope too - we have a similar thing looming with my uncle's grave illness, unfortunately there is great tension between the second wife and the children from the first marriage...
