Since it's so quiet on the board, I can't help think people must have their noses buried in books at least part of these very hot summer days. So what are you reading?
I'm reading too many to count, but off the top of my head:
Spiritual Reading: Deep Conversion, Deep Prayer by Thomas Dubay. This is one of the best spiritual reading books I've read in a long time. Wow, it's so good!
Lifeline: The Religious Upbringing of Your Children by James Stenson
Punished by Rewards by Alfie Kohn
Laying Down the Rails by Sonya Shafer
Planning Your Charlotte Mason Education
Those are the main books. I'm right now surrounded by piles and piles of books and catalogs as I work through my planning for the school year. I'm still not done  Plus I'm trying to get a good household rhythm established, but that requires thinking on my part on WHAT needs to be done.

The Body has a Mind of Its Own -- an impulse pick-up at the library and I'm not sure I'll finish it before I have to give it back. It's interesting but I am not getting into it very well.

The Well Trained Mind, by Susan Wise Bauer and Jessie Wise (why, oh why, have I never read this before?)
Atlas Shrugged, by Ayn Rand (slow going. I think it's kind of boring but am determined to give it a go.)
Disease-Proof your Child
2008 Nebula Award Showcase (best of sci-fi short stories)(hey, everyone has a vice, right?)
Checked out from the library, but to be started (when I finish Unruly Americans) - The Lolita Effect: The Medea S*xualization of Young Girls and What We Can Do About It by M. Gigi Durham
Courageous Virtue, by Stacy Mitch (starting a virtual Bible study on it on my website Monday!)

Where We Got the Bible: Our Debt to the Catholic Church by Henry Graham (available online here)
stuck in Deuteronomy in the Navarre Pentateuch for several weeks (months?) now -- I can't seem to move forward!!
Prayerfully Expecting by Donna Marie O'Boyle
Dressing with Dignity -- stuck about 3/4 of the way through for weeks now
rereading Sins of Parents
and rereading The Five Love Languages of Children
and several more on my bedside table that I'm reading off and on -- too many

It's healthier to be away from the computer, so no need to apologize!
No fair sneaking in finished books! That looks good, though. I love Margaret Wise Brown books, although I sometime stumble over her poetry/prose. The rhythm doesn't always flow the same.
Since you mentioned a biography about an author, I just finished The Art of Tasha Tudor and reread The Private World of Tasha Tudor.

In my twenties I did a type of 30 day Ignatian retreat under Father Hardon's direction. I called him in the evenings to talk about my progress. That was before this book was written. I'll find the other books he recommended if you're interested.

Ha! Right now I am taking a break from heavy reading and spending some time with fluff. I am reading through the "No. 1 Ladies Detective Agency" books right now, and really enjoying them. I don't often read novels, I usually feel guilty taking the time to read for fun, but these are quite good. I am in the middle of the 3rd book.

I didn't like Dressing with Dignity so much (did I even finish it? I can't recall).
I liked Wendy Shallit's Return to Modesty much, much better.

I have never read the LOTR series - which is quite odd as fantasy and sci-fi are my main fiction choices and have been since I was young. I have tried before, but this time I am determined. :) (So - do they EVER get done walking through the forest?!?!?!)
Dreams Underfoot by Charles de Lint. Short stories. For when I need a break from the Forest....
Not as deep reading as most of you! But, I need the "escape" right now....
