Friends in Christ, will you please pray for me and my family. Our foster-to-adopt process has been difficult and dragging on since January. I feel like I'm at the end of a marathon and I'm running out of steam. Today I had yet another "episode" where I needed to defend our family against:
1. a lie
2. inexperience
3. anti-religion/stay-at-home mother/large family agenda
I am losing my cool, friends. I'm wondering just how much ignorance and disrespect our family should be expected to endure. Is God trying to tell us to get out of here? Is He testing us mightily? I don't know. All I know is that I'm not feeling much like a saint today  . What does a saint look like, what does she say, under these circumstances?
Your prayers and support mean so much to me.
I'm praying for all of your intentions and will post to them later today or tomorrow.

Angie, I don't know if this will help, but it did help me at one time. (I hope I remember right, that you are going through the state) A private agency SW told me that the difference between them and the state was that private agencies try to find out why you should have a child placed in your home, and state agencies try to find out why you should not have a child placed in your home. It is a difference in approaches, I guess.
I certainly don't think your family has reasons to not have a child placed, but they come from that angle.
Having been where you are, I feel for you during this trying time and will pray for your family. It is so hard...

Praying Angie. Been there, done that. Only you can tell what God is saying to you through this. I always feel - for US - we carry on until "the door" is not just closed, but slammed in our face and locked, bolted and welded shut!
The questions, the prying, the poking, the invasion of your soul and heart - that is part of the cross of adoption, to me. After all, the beloved state is taking someone else's child away from them and giving him or her to you to raise, and any little thing the social worker finds "odd" they will pick away at. It is sooooo unfair.
I know of a lovely Catholic home educating family who were told they couldn't adopt because it was too wierd that they went to daily mass and home educated - ahem, yet they place children with homosexual couples? Obviously so not wierd.
May God draw you close and help you shine for him as you go through all this. If He has a little one waiting for you guys, every moment of the torment will be worth it
