Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

lower your cooking temp maybe?

eta - did a quick search to assist my memory.. and too high of heat does make for a grainy cheese sauce.

That could very well be my problem...

A couple of years ago I copied a recipe from Michele Quigley's old blog. I can't find it online and have played with the recipe so much I don't even remember the original measurements. But, in this recipe she uses corn starch - not flour:

corn starch, salt, pepper, mustard, milk, butter and real cheese.

I even use whole grain noodles and no one has ever complained of graininess!
If someone is interested I will find the exact measurements and post them.

Could be mine, too... not with mac n cheese (we still use a box, but reading this thread makes me want to try homemade), but with my alfredo sauce... The last time it came out all wrong, thankfully the kids didn't care. Of course, it could have also been that I used margarine (oops!) instead of real butter, but I digress.

Loving this thread! My kids want mac n cheese every day. Neither DH nor I care to eat it more than once a month.
