Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

I used to "have" to have cream or milk or CoffeeMate or something (except in espresso), and 2/3 decaf, but while I was pregnant with my 4th I couldn't stand anything but black coffee. Funny thing is, that has stuck. I never have anything in it now! Weird.

We use the good ol' drip machine and mix a "store brand" with something better, like Starbucks. I have a little stovetop percolator I got in Germany, but dh thinks it burns the coffee, so I indulge in that when he's out of town .

I keep reading this thread with envy, because it sounds like most of you enjoy your coffee, especially as a treat. I do not like coffee. I absolutely love the smell, and growing up I wished I could drink it with my mom. She used to make Luzianne with chicory, and it that smell was so nice as a child. I have tried it a few times, but just can't do it.

Now, my DH, on the other hand, IS a coffee drinker. He needs it to get through the day. He enjoys Caribou coffee beans and Half and Half with lots of sugar. He's pretty easy-going if there is another brand handy, but that is his preference. My mom likes to come to our house, because we will keep a bag of Caribou decaf beans here for her, and she LOVES that we have half and half!

Fuzzy, you bring back so many memories of coffee ... of Cajun coffee (mom is from around Cay's area) that mom loved and dad could not drink. He would pour 1/2 cup of coffee and fill the rest with water! I think that he quit drinking coffee in the end and only drank iced tea and sprite!

And my dh absolutely is not a coffee drinker! However, on our first date (which was perfect of course), he ordered a cup of coffee at the end of the meal. After that, I could not understand why he never wanted coffee again (this was of course, before Starbucks). He told me--after we were married--that he only ordered the coffee to impress me! Well, it worked! We have been married for 20+ years.

Yes, me, too. But mostly decaf.

Or Starbucks decaf mochas. The kind a friend bears in her arms when she comes to visit your house (thanks, KC!).

My dh didn't drink coffee when I met him, but a diehard tea drinker, which I'm not. I cannot physically tolerate tea, cold or hot. But he tried coffee, got hooked. But he needs decaf or he's irritable, so he tries to drop the habit. It's not working.

He's also mad that I haven't reciprocated with tea loving and got him hooked on a bad habit.

Every morning or all day long, whenever I have a sore throat, I drink coffee.

Decaf, with enough milk to make it a lovely tan color and some sugar.

If I am out and about, I get a medium with double cream and double sugar.

I am not a fancy coffee orderer (I get many in the coffee houses who just look at me blankly when I order a "medium decaf, please.")

I do like Hazelnut, and at Thanksgiving, I get the yummy Pumpkin Pie Spice creamer for my coffee. Unfortunately, it is only out at Thanksgiving, and I went into withdrawal when I ran out this year! I am sure it isn't the best thing for you, but it is Awesome! I will be buying two containers of it this year!

God Bless,

What a fun thread!

Too bad I feel like the little girl sitting in the living room watching all the Mommies drink coffee.

Coffee makes me

Right now I can't even drink tea because it bothers the baby. It's not the caffeine, it's something in the tea itself.

I'll pass around a hot chocolate with the non-coffee drinkers.

Hey non-coffee drinkers -- my new favorite summertime treat is something you all may like: Silk Chai flavored soymilk! It is soooo good, it tastes just like the real Chai tea with cardamom and plenty of milk that my Indian friend makes for me when she feels like being super-nice. :)

That made me laugh too...

And Philothea, I guess I'll have to try Chai someday... I just don't think Dunkin' Donuts serves it.

Strong and dark with the highest fat dairy product available! No sugar but I'm not opposed to using flavored creamer if its the only option (like at my mother's).
