Just in case you want to bring me coffee... that's how I take it: loaded with cream and sugar, also known as a "Regular" Dunkin'Donuts coffee up in New England.

Rachel May was telling Mary Chris and I the other day that she wasn't sure of our coffee orders... and that bothered her. I've been thinking about that.

From time to time various posts can come up that bother me... and sometimes I take it personally. Then I think: Why am I taking this personally? They don't really KNOW me. If they KNEW me, they would love me. Almost just kidding...

But in all honesty... how can I take things personally if I don't know: their dh's name, their kids'names, where they went to school, the car they drive (meaning I've seen them)... or HOW THEY TAKE THEIR COFFEE?????

Having coffee together is such a neighborly thing. Friends know each other's coffee order (or know they can't stand the stuff and bring them lemonade please). I think knowing someone "personally" also keeps us from saying things in a way that would be offensive.

BTW -- on that note, I'm not saying that neighborly folks back away from telling someone the truth about their outfit... when you REALLY think it's just awful.   Truly personal and neighborly people know how to deliver the truth sealed with a kiss.

So anywhooo.... in the spirit of being neighborly, I'm drinking my coffee in one of my favorite mugs wondering how you take your coffee?

I opened this thread thinking, "Maryan must be as tired as I am."

How I like my coffee, hmm......with lots of cream and sugar.

I love the Campfire Mocha that Caribou Coffee serves.

I also love the White Chocolate Mocha at Starbucks. During the summer I adore a Mint Mocha Frap.

I recently fell in love with the Cafe Mocha at Panerra. And Stef shared how to make one. YUM!

I also love Oregon Chai. Do you notice the sweet trend I have going?

At home, I usually just make myself a cup of coffee, sometimes Starbucks brand, sometimes Dunkin' Donuts, today I'm drinking some Godiva Hazelnut dh gave me for Valentine's Day, with lots of cream and sugar.

There is a lot more in your post to discuss, but my brain hurts and I'm tired.

I am not a big coffee drinker, but I sometimes use it for "medicinal purposes" ...

When I do indulge, the closer it tastes to coffee ice cream, the better! (really any creamy, sugary, and sometimes flavored coffee - iced in the hot weather)

I'm a fair trade dark roast girl with a nice dollop on flavored creamer...but you have to put the creamer into the bottom of the mug and pour the coffee on top...and I like seasonal mugs...my summer one has butterflies and hydrangeas...which is a much lovelier impression that sweltering Louisiana heat and mosquitos!
If we're going out for Fancy Schmancy coffee, I'm going to order a caramel latte with an extra shot of expresso and double whipped cream.
AND I LIKE LOTS OF IT....I recently confessed to a friend that I drink a whole twelve cup pot by myself and she insisted I had to do something about it. I'm cutting back to two cups...most days...okay, some days...all right, I'm trying!

Maryan,

I like my coffee Dunkin Donuts style too. I get "gourmet" (also known as non-store brand) coffee for birthdays, Christmas and Valentine's Day b/c I can't justify spending that much money on myself. (Dh doesn't drink coffee.) My dh tells me I am too practical sometimes.

Your post reminded me of a friend who I see once a year since we live in different states. One time she hired a babysitter so that she could come over to spend the day cleaning at my house. This was a few months after my triplets were born. She came bearing a vanilla milkshake which so happens to be a favorite of mine. The thing is - I didn't know she knew. I was blown away that she remembered such a small thing. That is an area that I'd like to improve on myself.

Mare - who is drinking a cup of Dunkin Donuts Hazlenut coffee.

At home, French roast, French press, 2/3 decaf, cream and sugar.
NO flavoring.

Out, the freshest I can get, half and half, not creamer.

Iced in the summer--make coffe ice cubes, sweeten and milk some hot coffee, top huge glass with coffee cubes.

Becasue we are fortunate enough to have some small places, I avoid Starbuck's and Dunkin Donuts is the cool place for my daughters and her friends to hang out so I try not to invade that space.

Dark/some medium roast, French press also, also 2/3-3/3 decaf (if I can get it . . . my husband likes his jolt), MILK (not cream), no sugar. No flavors. Just. Coffee. With. Milk.

I like to ice it in the summer. And on very rare occasions, I like caffe mocha.

This is good to know since Colleen and I can get together for a IRL cup of coffee. And, Colleen, this is exactly what I order when I have a Starbucks moment.

I drink one cup of coffee each morning...sometimes two if Opa stops by and I have already drank the first cup. I like mine cafe au lait style. Other than that regular cup, I usually have a cup at my grandmother's house when I visit her. It's the "Cajun" thing to do.

[ETA: I always buy decaf and am now experimenting with Folgers and Maxwell House as Community is steeping out of my price range . And I have never acquired a taste for "iced" coffee. It's mental, I know, but coffee is "suppose" to be hot. ]

Any way but black.

We have a Nespresso machine, but we go through stages of making a pot. When we are in a Nespresso stage, I have a cappuccino or latte (iced in the summer!), and in the pot stage, I just have it with milk. I used to add sugar, but I don't so much unless I make a mochaccino for a treat, but I don't think I could give up milk! I love milk and coffee!

Black, please! Really, Maryan, that whole "regular" thing can be so confusing. The first time I ordered coffee in NY, the waitress asked, "Regular?"; I assumed she meant,"as opposed to decaf", and cheerfully said, "yes, please." Then she brought me a cup of *messed with* coffee! My reaction: shock and disbelief! Dh is from NJ, but not a coffee drinker, so he didn't know what the problem was either. "I asked for regular coffee"; "Yes, that's what I gave you." I felt like I was living "Who's On First"
A few years afterwards, we lived in Connecticut and then I finally got it!

Peace,
Nancy

With lots of cream, no sugar. Oh, and it has to be decaf, because my son always steals as much as he can get. That's okay, I've never been a coffee drinker for the caffeine, just for the flavor.

Light (cream) and sweet (that's what they call "regulah" around here), Kona, please. Also, since Viv turned me on to the coffee press, that's how it's done here.

And these days, it's iced. In the winter, I like it with cinnamon and nutmeg...a little non-traditional, but nice.

The way I love it - dark roast, black, with lots of sugar. Way lots.

But it is usually not a good idea for me to drink it, so instead, fresh brewed ice tea, with lots of sugar. Way lots.

I used to purchase my coffee mail order from a shop in Austin, Texas (Andersons). Oh how I loved it! But the shipping is way to much. So I gave it up for Starbuck's French Roast or Columbian. I need to do some Internet shopping to see what I can find.

I like a strong cup with a heaping spoon full of demenera sugar and a bit of single cream (the Welsh think we are crazy to put cream in our coffee). I was using the french press, but have recently acquired a new DeLonghi coffeemaker. It is so good!

Oh, and I like it hot. Like Cay, I have never been able to drink iced coffee.

My parents are from Rhode Island and brought coffee milk, instead of chocolate milk to our table.

It is a short hop to iced coffee, and who does not need that little afternoon kick?

I love strong coffee with a little cream. (I just use milk at home since we never buy cream, but I love it when I get coffee out.) No sugar, please!! Oh, and decaf only--I kicked the habit when I was pregnant with my daughter and haven't gone back.

I grew up in an Italian family where everyone had a latte every evening after dinner. I miss that. Sometimes I will make decaf espresso with my stovetop espresso maker like my parents and grandparents always used to do. But since my husband hates coffee, I usually just brew a couple quick cups for myself with my drip machine.

I like mine with lots of sugar and cream or half and half (milk will do if we are out of the first 2), but there has to be sugar and something to make the coffee white
I don't have a favorite place or brand at home because we buy store brand because of cost. But a good friend makes *to die for* coffee at her house when we go for knitting get togethers and such. The brand she uses is Tchibo brand mellow roast or decaf, and she makes it really strong. MMMMmmmmm so good!

When we're out and about I like to stop for a café con leche with a *little* sugar. Which is one of the most difficult things to convey to these Cuban ladies, it always earns me strange looks and then I have to hold up my fingers nearly pinching the pointer and thumb together and try out all my limited spanish for little, tiny, sweet, sugar - diminuto, poco dulce, ummm... azucar pequeno, por favor. Sometimes I give up and just have a café cubano which I seem to be able to pronounce clearer. It comes in a tiny little paper thimble and you drink it like a shot of tequila. Don't try to sip it as the Cuban ladies will start acting out what you are to do, tossing their heads back, so I just take it away to my car or the next block and drink it the way I want to which generally does not involve throwing burning hot liquid down my throat. I'll let it cool abit first! If we were all getting together I could bring enough for everybody in one normal to-go cup and we'd pour it into the little cups at our meeting and toss it back. Boy, the conversation would fly then!

Oh, and when I go to visit my sister in Kansas City I spend the whole trip in a daze as I can never find a cup of coffee that even appears to have caffeine in it after drinking these!
