Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

I could have written your post a couple of months ago, even the part about having all these kids. It will get better! Take one day at a time, lower your expectations (to meals and laundry!) and try to eat well. Try talking to your dh during a good time about how you are struggling.

Tell some friends! Don't try to hide it.

Praying hard for you!

PPd is very, very hard to deal with it does help to talk it out with your dh though, don't keep him in the dark. You are unwell and need lots of TLC. Pray, pray and pray some more. If the schooling is getting on top of you back right off and have time out for as long as you need. You really need to take as much pressure off yourself as possible, however saying that it is also good to keep busy with the simple things of life, gardening, basic cleaning, etc. Try to sleep when you can and bless yourself with lots of holy water and visits to the Blessed Sacrament if possible.
Yes having heaps of kids is hard, but every stage is temporary. You know - in 2 years, 5 years 10 years we will have different problems and be looking back one day at these days as being the good ones. I have to keep reminding myself of these points regularly otherwise it all seems too much for me also.
Maybe even let the kids know that you are unwell and need some special support from them during this time and your time of recovery (which may take some time or not), they maybe able to do a little extra for Mum around the house, cups of herbal tea, giving you some time out. Trying to juggle it all alone is not going to get you better it will only exacerbate the symptoms or create layers of anxiety on top of the PPd.
God must love you very much to keep giving you these little gifts of his to care for. We can only do our best and ask him to fill in the gaps where we fall short.

Have you checked your progesterone levels and oestrogen levels? You may need to have some back up progesterone? Napro has been known to help women suffering from PPd. You could seek out a Napro doctor for some advice.

I hope I don’t sound like I am preaching; these words are shared with the most sincere intentions. If you would like to PM me, please feel free.

I will pray for a miracle for you. Could you also pray for me?

God Bless
C

I'm so sorry!

I've struggled with PPD, myself, and Chemai's post was right on!

Take care of yourself and just spend time with the kids loving them and maybe just reading to them...

You're all in my prayers!

I am so sorry! I've never had PPD, but for years I was anemic and sleep deprived, waking every hour with my young ones. It became so hard to function. Everything was overwhelming and took so much emotional and physical energy. I knew that it would be better if I could sleep well, but that wasn't an option. What got me through was to constantly beg God for His mercy. I had a few saints whose intercession I continually invoked too. I lowered expectations (as Molly says), talked to my husband, got out of every "optional" activity (co-ops, etc) and reminded myself that 'I would sleep in heaven.' (paraphrase of something Mother Teresa said) and that this was temporary.

Is there anyone (college or high school girl) who can come and help you on occasion? Can a friend take some of the kids for a play day?

I am praying hard for you! Jesus, I trust in You. Have mercy on our dear friend in need! Mary, hold her close and give her the strength she needs and desires.

Prayers for you.

Make sure you are drinking enough water, and what about a good B Complex vitamin?

I love this quote from St Maximilian
Mary is my strength, all will be well

Ask Our Blessed Mother to tenderly guide you through this dark time.

Chemai had a good point about letting the children know that you aren't feeling well. When I got to the point that I could tell before making it downstairs in the morning that it was a bad day, I would tell them. It helps them to know it isn't their fault.

Feel free to pm me, too. Don't go this alone.

Many prayers coming your way. This is such a difficult thing to deal with. I agree that you should really talk with your dh about it. He is there to be your helper as much as you are to him. I am sending some cyber hugs your way!

Blessings,
Betsie

Everyone has written so well with such grace and truth, it was a pleasure to read it all,

Yes, I say that a bit now, "I know what they mean when they say we will 'rest in peace'"

I feel for your great pain and suffering, I will be remembering you in my daily offering and in our family rosaries, offering a memorare now.

Please know that I'm praying for you. I will ask our Blessed Mother for her intercession and I pray for the miracle you ask for.

You're not alone.

Please, please, please don't hide from your friends or form the ones who truly love you best! Get help. There is no shame in that. We have all needed help at one time or another. You are not alone! Prayers!

St. Maximilian had tuberculosis. He ran a constant fever and had use of only part of his lungs.

I will pray for you in my evening prayers.

I am offering tomorrow for you. I have so much I'd like to say but I'm unsure if any of it would be helpful, this is a subject that is close to my heart.

Lots and lots of prayers for you - and for all the others struggling with the same cross. Rest in the arms of Jesus and Mary - you WILL come out of the darkness.

Hugs
