Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Please pray for my dh Ed on Monday. He's had numerous health challenges in the past year and a half, took disability/early retirement last fall after a bout of pneumonia that nearly killed him, and now is experiencing shortness of breath and chest pressure. The family doc thought he had congestive heart failure but the cardiologist doesn't think so. Ed is scheduled for an echocardiogram and cardiac catheterization on Monday. Please pray that everything goes well.

The doc says that if it isn't heart, then he'll send him on to a pulmonologist, as he could have some scarring after 3 hospitalizations for pneumonia last year and 6 bronchoscopies during the last bout alone. Poor guy. His additional physical challenge is that he has paralysis after a benign spinal tumor removal when he was a very young man and cannot walk.

I'll feel so much better in that waiting room Monday knowing that my 4Real prayer warriors are storming heaven for Ed. He hasn't felt really well for almost 2 years. He deserves to enjoy life and feel better, I think!

Thanks so much, and God bless all of you,
Mary Alice

THANK YOU and let's everyone praise God together!!!!! The cardiologist confirmed that Ed doesn't have congestive heart failure or any kind of blockage either. In fact, his words were, "Ed has a terrific heart!" (I've been saying that since the day I met him!!!!!)

His echocardiogram was normal, cardiac cath was normal, and they even did an ultrasound of his legs and feet to ensure that there is no blockage or clot anywhere. It took absolutely forever. We were told to check in promptly at 9 and were there 15 minutes early. They didn't start his first procedure until 2:15. Sigh........

So all the scary reasons to have chest pressure have been ruled out, thank God!! Next step will be a CT of his lungs and a pulmonary function test. But even if lung function is somehow compromised, it is treatable and not so scary as big, bad heart things.

The relief I feel is indescribable. Again, thank you for the love and prayers.
