Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

My father insists on being called "Grambo". Seriously.

My kids (and all their cousins) call my father Da-- I think its Gaelic for father?

My grandfather was called Dadda and our grandmother Nanna, definitely an Irish term.

My mother tells me she thinks Marnie is Cornish, but I can't find it anywhere, but Cornish for grandfather is granfer, which is nice but not the right fit. Oh and my mother's fiancee's (spelling?) name is Tim.

With his given name being Tim, GranTim might fit him well...your Mom and the rest of the family could "grant him" the honor of knighting him as new grandfather.

We have family members who have gone by G-ma and G-pa, Gee-Gee and Gee-Pops, Mimi and Poppy, as well as Baba and Goompah. Most of those have originated with creative grandchildren. When we were expecting our first grandchild I had visions of choosing our own names, and even suggested Mamasina and Papasina to our expectant daughter, but our granddaughter had ideas of her own! The name "Goompah" has been sung with much gusto to the "Oompah-Loompah" song, which ends "we've got a silly Goompah for you"!
