Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Kindly grandmother type at the grocery store: "What did you do in school today?"

7yo: "We didn't have school today because mom needed us to clean the bathrooms!"

I waited all afternoon for CPS to show up.

When you give your 5yo a task and she replies, "I am not your Nubian."

And when stories of your outschooled nephew ALWAYS make you glad you homeschool (and make you wonder when dear sister is going to figure it out).

when your kids rave-rave-rave about Narnia (the books ) and the other kids look at them and wonder what the fuss is all about.

and your oldest kid goes to prom and doesn't recognize half the songs they play there.

and your kids lead the Rosary at youth group, and they actually know the Luminous Mysteries by heart.

when your 6-yo thinks aloud about boycotting anti-life businesses.

I was recently thinking that I should be teaching this word to the kids. I usually call twaddle "junk food books".

I did have a moment of shock last year when we were standardized testing and the kids didn't know how to "bubble in" on the answer sheet.

Rachel that was mine!!!

My oldest ds when he was 9!!! I left the room and told him to just fill in his name, put the letters in the boxes was what I said. I came back 2 minutes later and he had created this nifty design with filing in the bubbles...not matching his letters at all. I could only laugh while I erased.

Oh!! I just remembered..

My daughter was very impressed that daddy had the music from her Barbie movie (Swan Lake)

And I think we talked a little bit about how some music is Classical even if it's used for movies.. like Swan Lake and the Nutcracker and Sleeping Beauty..

Our homeschool group sometimes uses the Boys and Girls club for our meetings.. and my daughter was chatting with the lady who worked there.. asking about the different things.. and asked if what the tv was showing was the radio on the tv.. and the lady said it was and asked what her favorite music was.. and my daughter pipes up "Classical!"

The look on that lady's face

I did explain to her that she was talking about Swan Lake and Sleeping Beauty and such.. but it was pretty funny.
