Me: ketchup, mustard and relish (ketchup tastes better at room temp) -- oh and it has to have American cheese (which dh says is just a fat pill, but SO? )
dh: mustard & onions
Kids: ketchup, mustard, relish, mayo

I love hot dogs!! But my healthy better half thinks their bad for our health...so I only can make them on the 4th of July, etc.
I would love it with EVERYTHING but relish and mustard... but since I hardly have EVERYTHING and am known to be a lazy chef... I'm just a ketchup gal.
And... what's to love about mustard??? Nothin' sweet whatsoever in mustard.

I'm impressed! Your husband must be a hard core Pittsburgher! I've never actually put the fries and slaw on the sandwiches we make at home, but we love them at Primanti Bros. when we are in town! The rest of my family still lives up there and they're so happy they opened one up in Harmarville!

Ketchup and relish. My brother made fun of me for using ketchup and not mustard once-- he told me ketchup was for kids

Me too...and I LOVE everything tomato, go figure.
I'll eat about 2 hot dogs a year, if I can have chili, cheese, onion (mustard is optional for me.) This is as close to a Texas weiner at Coney Island Lunch from my hometown as I can get in AZ . Believe it or not, in this small NE PA town there are a ton of Coney Island/Texas Weiner places. My dh's favorte won't have a website to share anytime soon . Her brought me and my sister there when I first started dating him...pretty impressive .
Love,

Ohhhh! Coney Island! That is the only time I will have chili on my dog. Makes me wonder what's in the chili or is it just the loving memory of meeting my brother-in-law!
My fave...ketchup, mustard (brown if I'm in a spicy mood) and sweet pickle relish! YUM!!!

My dogs MUST have Goldens Mustard and relish. I voted for mustard since I could only vote for one.
There is one exception to this rule. If I am in Columbia, S.C. A Sandy's Hot Dog's slaw dog is like no other! I had one a week while going to college--and then played a few games of Pac Man. Ah, memories...
Thanks, Theresa(and son) for the fun...

Okay, I don't do hot dogs.
Well, I will eat the ones with the skin on them. Or brats.
But they HAVE to be plain, because I don't do condiments either.

Another sauerkraut fan here! My dad prefers his hot dogs boiled with mustard and sauerkraut, back to his days growing up in New York. He always remembers the hot dog stands so fondly!
So that's how I used to eat them too and how I still prefer them, though I never buy sauerkraut personally--it's just mustard here at home for us. My husband eats it with just mustard too.

I already voted but I also like chopped onions and sliced cucumbers on my hot dog with mustand and ketchup. Very yummy. You should try the cukes!

You mean I can't have ALL of them?
okay, my favorite combinations:
ketchup-mustard-mayo-relish (but not the disgusting kelly green kind)
chili-onions-cheese
mustard only
barbecue sauce
no kraut on my hotdogs! they go better with brats!
and i'll eat slaw on the side but not on my dog please.
i also, on occasion, love hotdogs DEEP FRIED.

I love hot dogs and have been missing them since I became allergic to several things in them, but......
When I do eat them, it's ketchup and dill pickles. NOT relish, DILL pickles, as I always tell the gal at DQ!

Sorry, stef! Next time you visit you'll know where to go...which is not the link above but the one written about in the comments section of the link above. I just went back and read the full link and the comment explains how the two weiner shops were one, once upon a time, but the brothers who owned it split up years ago. It is fondly known in Scranton as "the weiner wars" .
Jennifer, I can still see the three of us as clear as day eating our weiners over 21 years ago...amazing!
I'm hungry.
Love,

Maryan,

I'm interested in trying those hot dogs. So far every time we've experimented with "healthy" hot dogs, they were too peppery, and my son really didn't like them (I didn't either).
We don't serve hot dogs very often, either. I do enjoy the Hebrew National hot dogs at Costco (of all places), and since my son can eat it without a bun, he enjoys our "lunch dates" at Costco. And it's a cheap date, too!
He can't eat Nathan's because they have wheat additives...hot dog labels I have to read VERY Carefully!
I eat it with deli mustard and onions...lots of both. I'm like you, Liz. I would only add dill pickles made into relish, not the horribly sweet stuff that is said to be relish. I do not relish THAT kind of relish! And I don't like ketchup, either.
I'm the just the opposite of you, Maryan. I don't like sweet things with my dinner, so that's why I don't like ketchup or relish and LOVE my mustard and dill pickles and onions!

The Coleman ones have no nitrates or additives or antibiotics or any of that but they still get 70% of their calories from fat and they're not exactly low sodium... Dan's probably right but every once in awhile, it's a fun indulgence and these aren't as bad as others.

I love hotdogs, but I agree, they're so bad for you. I rarely make them , and when I do I usually put chili on them.
