Update: My DH received 2 excellent job offers and has to make a tough choice.
One offer is for a Network Administration position. This job is close to home. Higher salary than current and they will help him obtain a secret security clearance. The only drawback is it's for a smaller contracting company, which is not necessarily a bad thing, and there would be a bigger learning curve.
The other job offer is with a major contracting company with current salary and supporting the same customers as he already supports so he already knows the people he'd be working with, but there's no chance of getting a clearance and it is in DC (far away) but he'd be doing the same thing he's been doing for the last 3 years. Higher comfort level with current skillset.
Today is the final day of his Novena.
Tough choice. What do you think?

Get the clearance. Way, way more marketable if that job goes away...he could probably hire on with company #2 later with a better clearance, even if job #1 evaporates.
You will need to grit your teeth during the learning curve/clearance wait process, but once you have an active clearance, you're so much more marketable that I think it would be worth some temporary hardship.
PM me if you have questions and I will talk with my (now sleeping) dh.

Congratulations on the job offers!
Speaking as a wife who is very tired of waiting dinner until 7 or 7:15 (or later) when dh arrives home after his long commute from DC, I'd say go for the job close to home if it were my husband. The long commute is exhausting for dh and adds stress to all of our lives since we cannot really plan or accomplish anything in the evenings. The higher salary and clearance opportunity are wonderful too.

Congrats, Ruth! This is very exciting! I will ask Saint Joseph to help you both make the best decision for your family.

Praying for help in discerning. I know how STRESSFUL it can be - so afraid to choose the wrong 'door', afraid you aren't hearing God clearly, etc. Prayers!

Each time my dh has been blessed with the opportunity to take on a challenge, and has accepted it, he has been rewarded...not immediately, but long term. Remember when Dave accepted the challenge to go to Indonesia for the tsunami relief? It was all so new, the learning curve was steep, and the sacrifice hard yet the opportunity has blessed him and our family time and time again. Having said that ...
You and your dh are so close to God and His will right now that I'm confident that you will discern His will well, which as we know is very mysterious at times!
Praise God for both opportunities!
Love,

Thank you all for your prayers. My husband just received the 2 offers in writing and has decided to accept the job close to home, 1/2 hour away. I've been praying for this intention for many, many years. It's hard to believe he'll be home by dinner.
Now he's just waiting to tell his boss, a VERY generous and kind man. This is going to be tough for him. He's also having a difficult time telling the other company, because he knows them and they were hoping to get him on board. I am very proud of him.
Now we begin a thanksgiving novena to St. Joseph and we will add all your intentions.
God bless you.

St. Joseph always pulls thru, doesn't he?
Congrats Ruth -- having dh home for dinner most nights is a big plus around here ... especially as he'll often cook if he's home early enough!
Will send up a thanksgiving prayer for y'all too -- thanks for letting us know.
