Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Hi Everyone,

Apparently, the transfusion yesterday did not help Laura's blood count, and she needed 2 more pints of blood today. She is continuing to bleed throughout the day, some times more, some times less. Her Dr. is hoping to get her to 28 weeks, which is what, in her Dr.'s opinion, would be the best case scenario for Laura at this time. The concern quite honestly is to keep Laura from literally bleeding to death......Please continue to pray! I will keep everyone updated as I can!

Blessings,

Tea

Angie,

I have not heard anything since my last posting, that she is continuing to bleed, and that they continue to give her transfusions. I will be sending her an e-mail after I send off this update, and so hopefully I will her more then.....

Tea

Hi Everyone,

I have an update for all of you - Laura continued to bleed and began to outright hemorrhage mid-to-late last week. Her Dr. ordered a color doppler test to better determine the site of the bleeding, and found that she had numerous varicosities wrapped around her cervix and some are deeply embedded into the low-lying placenta of the little baby girl twin. This condition is so rare, that Laura is only the 7th reported incidence WORLDWIDE! The Dr. determined to do a procedure to suture off the particular varicose vein that has been responsible for the bleeding. Fri. morning, as they were preparing her for surgery, she began to hemorrhage on the OR table, losing 8 units of blood in 6 min. She was only given a spinal and so was awake for the entire procedure, and heard the Dr. say, "it's like a faucet...". They began to immediately begin transfusion of more blood, and within a moment later, the suture was in place and she has not had a trace of blood since!

She also mentioned in her e-mail to me this morning that as a result of the bleeding having ceased, she is being discharged from the hospital on strict bed rest for the duration of the pregnancy. There is a chance that one of the remaining varicose veins could rupture and cause a new hemorrhage, and she is really concerned about this possibility. The babies are both very healthy and growing normally, at almost 24 weeks now! The Dr. is hoping to get Laura to at least 28 weeks, hopefully more. She will have to have a C-Section, and it is very likely that she may need a hysterectomy at delivery if bleeding becomes profuse...

Please continue to keep this Mom and her little ones in your prayers! I will continue to keep you all updated. Thank you ALL so much for your prayers for her. I am SURE they are what has been making the difference here! !

God bless,

Tea

Oh, PRAISE GOD and prayers continue. What a scary rollercoaster Laura is on. Praying for St. Gerard's and our Blessed Mother's continued intercession.

Wonderful news, Tea. I'll be keeping her in my constant prayers and awaiting the happy news. I will also be praying for her healing, so that she won't have to have that hysterectomy.

Blessings,
