Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

I've missed you! So, while we were on break, Elizabeth shared some big news as did Lisbet. So, what's your news from the last week?
WE went camping and our Kolbe turned 1.
What were the highlights of your family's week?

My Bobby turned five and we went on a pilgrimage to Mother Seton's shrine in MD with dh's school on a beautiful, beautiful Sunday.

Aw, the Seton pilgrimage? The highlight of our year for so long. We passed through there in the middle of April. So beautiful.

We had a very busy weekend of my brother's sister and her family (2 children) visit. We went to the Zoo and Natural History Museum on Friday, then the Udvar-Hazy National Air and Space Museum in Dulles on Saturday.

There we ran into a very old friend of Dh who was visiting the museum with his father, on a weekend from Altoona. We gave him a hard time for not letting us know he was going to be in town, but they ended up coming back to our favorite restaurant for dinner, and their friends came from Alexandria to meet us there. And it was a wonderful dinner. It's always nice to be able to have conversations when you know that everyone is on the same page with views on religion and politics and music.

Whew! I'm exhausted!

My family and I went to the Northwest Catholic Family Education Conference. My husband was a true hero, giving me an early Mother's Day gift by taking Friday off work and watching our children for all but two of the talks. He listened to the talk on speech given by a friend of ours and an overview/trailer of Expelled given by my mom's old friend (not saying that the friend is old, but my mom died in 2002...may perpetual light be shining upon her). The speakers were excellent. I had an opportunity to see friends who I had not seen for years and meet several bloggers for the first time irl and they are truly lovely. I am looking forward to getting to know them better in the future. Among those who I met are Jessica, Trina, Christy, Heather, and Michelle. My children thoroughly enjoyed being at the conference; my seven-year-old asked me last night, "Wouldn't it be great if the conference was every weekend?"

We went to Prairie Rose Chuckwagon Supper with my dh's family on Saturday night.

My 3 oldest girls are BIG Roy Rogers fans and they were asked to come up on stage and sing Happy Trails.

It was quite a night!

We got chicks!!
7 yellow downy babies as part of a homeschool group incubation project--we hope they are all girls!

My dd has named them all flower names! She sits down for hours with them, and sings Silent Night to them, scolds them when they peck each other. (Not too different from other siblings?!)

We celebrated Maria's first Holy Communion on Sunday.
It was a beautiful day and a glorious feast! We are still recovering from the celebration and still need to bring some things in order at home, but we still feel the afterglow...
Now it is time to begin planning for our travel plans to America, where we will be living for one year!!!!

I wish that I could be announcing another baby , too! alas!
My girls are still hoping and praying...

Your mom would have been so happy -- the Shrine was almost FULL. There was just a couple of pews to the far left that were empty.

Oh... and on the way home we drove by the Dulles Air and Space Jenn. We definitely need to go there. I'm glad you had such a fun weekend.

And as we passed Dulles, we almost called the Foss' and the Beardsley's to see if they were up for Ascension ice cream somewhere in their neck of the woods... but all the kiddos were asleep! And... I don't wake sleeping children.

I'm so glad the Shrine was full!

I'm up for another Air and Space visit anytime. It's really nursing mother friendly.

We tried flying a kite yesterday. It wasn't until I was there at the park that I remembered that it was a suggested activity for the Ascension. It just happened to be a beautiful breezy day!

We took the kids to see the frogs in DC, which was fun, but apparently, the highlight of the morning was their very first ride on the metro! Kids are so funny . . .

Maryann and Jenn-- my James calls the Air and Space museum, "the zoo with the planes"

Oh Michaela, twin first Communicants, how sweet is that? Is this one of those things that didn't hit you when you found out they were twins but are ever so grateful for now?

We finished our co-op year, whew. We spent Saturday doing outdoor things - archery, biking (kids), car repair (dh) and yardwork (me). Yesterday we were at church for a long time due to extra music practice and the volunteer appreciation brunch. I wrote articles and blog posts. Not exciting, but it was a productive weekend.
