Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

If visit DC on Memorial Day, I think street parking should be free and probably more plentiful. I know it's that way on Thanksgiving Day, which is one of the days we try to to fit in a visit to the museums.

I can't state this as fact but we (more NoVA residents) think Memorial Day might not be quite such an easy holiday as Thanksgiving on which to navigate DC because of people visiting war memorials and probably special events -- and more people have lengthy family dinner gatherings on Thanksgiving Day. Plus more people might come in to work at private businesses on Memorial Day than on Thanksgiving.

Theresa, you're right. I hadn't even thought of Memorial Day parades and related events. Still, because it is a federal holiday, I think parking should be free, which is rare during the week.

Thanks for pointing out the potential for more visitors that day, even if the number of workers is lower than normal.

Well, our trip is quickly approaching. At the last minute some problems have come up and the arrangement we had made to stay have fallen through. We are going to go anyways. But that means we are looking for a hotel. Do you guys have any recommendations? My dh thinks that would be cheaper to stay outside the beltway, is he correct?

My dh asked me to ask y'all something else but now I don't remember what it is As soon as I find out I'll post again. I know it was related to transportation with the DC area but I don't remember specifics.

Thanks for your help!

Are you renting a car? If you'll have a car anyway, then outside the beltway will be cheaper. But if you weren't planning to rent a car, the added expense of needing to rent one (outside the beltway is generally not Metro-friendly) wouldn't be worth it.

There's a nice inexpensive hotel (kid friendly with restaurant and pool) near my house, but we are about six miles from the nearest metro station, so that's probably not helpful. But you could always just hang out with us! :)

All our hospitality arrangement didn't fall through after all! We are going to be staying in the Springfield area. Is that close to any of you? Could those of you who have express an interest in meeting up with us pm your contact information? I am not sure how is the best way of arranging a meeting but I will sure try!

I wanted to take a moment to thank all of you for your suggestions. We just came back from a great trip. Your suggestions were very helpful to us.

I also wanted to publicly thank Mary Chris, Jen, Marilyn and Irene for taking the time to meet up with me and my family. It was one of the highlights of the trip to me. Sightseeing is fun but I am a people person. Seeing all of you there just made a good trip better.

Now I can belong to the club of those who have met 4realers for real!

We had such a lovely time! We were so happy that you took the time out of your busy touring schedule to come see us! I have been so busy since then and no time to post the pictures, but hope to soon!

Since the weather got so bad that day, our meeting will be remembered!

Natalia - it was great to meet you and your lovely family. We had fun - tornado and all

Ditto what Jenn said - with no power for a while and then a crazy few days I have not had time to post the picture I have. I am hoping to get the group photo from someone else as I only have the "moms" photo
