Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

How funny that this topic should come up since I was just thinking about workbooks and a drrawback they seem to have these past several days.

Since I use more of an "eclectic textbook" approach for schooling we do use workbooks. I like that they're finite and specific, and that I don't have to make up all the questions.

But when I find them being too much of a drag, I exercise my right as a teacher to edit the work. Sometimes I only have my girls do every other math problem, or skip some or all of the word problems at the bottom of the page, for instance; I also tend to use workbook assignments more as something for the girls' daily practice than as something that has to be graded and recorded--I'll chose some assignments or tests to record just to measure progress, but we don't grade every page.

And if we hit a page that's just silly time-wasting, I write the word SKIP in big letters at the top and they get some free time. And so do I!
